sold some wind deflectors on ebay for 15.00 posted. sent them 2nd class on friday and they arrived today and the buyer said they arrived damaged.

is it a case of going into the post office and telling them or can it be done online?

i have the postage receipt, what else do i need?

Surely if you've got the insurance included with Special/Recorded Delivery you'll get more than stamps?

Doubt you'll get much from standard second class. The damaged bags we give out just tell the customer to phone an 0870 number and they deal with that stuff

I'm just a simple postman, its nothing to do with me.

Sounds like you should be thankful they didn't just say they've never received it. Who on earth doesn't send recorded, especially for something worth £15.

ive sent over 30 parcels in 2 months and this is the first problem ive had.

they wouldnt offer the service if it wasnt suitable.

its iirelevant anyway, im asking how you go about claiming, not what postal service to choose.

if i sent everything recorded it wouldve cost me double for every parcel. not a viable option.

the buyer paid for 2nd class.

no need to fill the thread with iirevelant info, this isnt an ojc cock out thread.

Even if the buyer chooses the postage, it's still you who'll be liable, especially if paid by paypal. Oh, and it is relevant and I can post where I like, cheers.

You need photographic proof tbh with that days newspaper - will stop him scamming if he is, as I don't reckon he'll fancy smashing up his own wind deflectors

You need photographic proof of how it was packed, chances are they will send you a letter telling you that you didn't pack it well enough. I had a buyer claiming some rear lights were broken so I claimed and they said I needed a minimum of 10cm of bubble wrap so they wouldn't pay out.

I always send things recorded now because Royal Mail are useless, I've only ever received compensation once and that was when I sent recorded and it was never delivered, you need as much evidence as possible.

Took 6 weeks as you can't claim unless it's been missing for 2 weeks, then it takes them 4 weeks to 'investigate'
