Ive got a set of brand new Toyo T1Rs I'm the garage 205/45/17 I wondered would it be detrimental to the Clios handling if I put them on (Clio runs 215/45/17) is that 10mm difference?

they would be stretched a little, thats all.

i always thought the wider the tyre, the more grip you have.

10mm in winter isn't going to do any terrible damage to the handling though.

You are correct. 10mm counts, ask any woman.

On the civic it had the oposite. 205/45/17 is OEM and it had 215/40/17 dont know why. Fitted ok though and im glad I had them now I have upgraded to wider wheels.

How come you got a different size

I honestly use cheapo tyres and never crashed. Never understood this anal view on tyres people have.

Especially if the same people are part of the mpg bum boys gang.

I'd say it would have a detrimantal effect on the handling.

It will be a more rigid tyre, meaning more understeer

they seem to break traction easily in the wet, wear quick and dont grip as well in the dry as other decent branded tyres. all personal opinion though.

Personally found toyo t1r's to be very mediocre. Quite an average mid range tyre at best. I would have a fallen 912 over a t1r but that's my opinion. Doesn't mean I'm correct for other peoples driving styles etc.
