I've been offered the chance to head up a new office in Australia and I'm seriously considering it, my missus currently works for an Australia firm so its possible for her to re-locate too.
She seems well up for it but I'm trying to work out the pro's and con's..
So far..
Pros
All moving costs (there and back) paid for.
House, furniture & I.T. equiptment paid for.
Car paid for.
Sallary increase.
Climate (Victoria so the weather isnt too hot).
Cons
Far away from familly and friends.
The effort of having to make new friends.
Stress.
Home-sickness.
Have to commit to 12 months.
Has anyone else been in this situation?

If its only 12 months minimum i would give it a go.
If it works out then great, If not then just come back and chalk it down as a life experience. Good luck whatever you do mate

12 month commit should be a pro.
Are they buying you a house?

Only ties are Mrs (but obviously I'd only do it if she's coming), Familly (mostly for the missus), Friends and House.

Ask the bird if she wants to do it then give it a go, if its just 12 months it will look awesome on your CV and if you are running the show then its going to be fun.

this tbh. i did 3 months on secondment to dublin on similar terms and absoltuely loved it! similar culture to here (same with Aus) so you wont find language or even simple shopping too taxing. clearly dublin is a hell of a lot closer so it was eays to come home but my friends and family still werent there, that genuinely is the only thing to be worried about. make a mint of these things too as housing paiod for. i got a COLA as well for being ouit there which you coudl try and wangle

I would 100% do it if someone was coming with me like your Mrs is.
Don't know a huge amount about Victoria but not sure there is much going on there. Worth researching it before you decide.
See if they will also give you a lump sum to convince you to do it. A friend did the same when her company relocated to Geneva, she went with them and they doubled her salary and gave her £100k cash.

Do it mate! Especially if the Mrs is up for it too! Nothing to loose what so ever and piece of piss to change the mortgage to a rental one.
I'd go abroad in a heartbeat if the Mrs could work overseas (specialises in scots law so kind of fucked there )
