Being the last full day today the bosses were going through the yearly records.
I've had 3 days off sick this year, and i was under the impression that was quite good.
However it turns out im in the worst 20 out of 120 employees.
What do your companies class as acceptable/unacceptable?

3 seperate periods of sickness in one financial year get you a disclipline here.
i had 1 lot in february of 3 days due to a car accident and 1 lot in october of 2 days due to man flu.
most people have about a month off in a financial year.

Get up to 7 days in a rolling year without a diagnosed medical condition/illness before disciplinary.

Suppose there's so many circumstances. Im in the construction industry so 90% of the company is made up of 25-50yr old men who are pretty healthy.
I'd imagine the figure to be alot higher for a job like teaching, nurse etc.

dont really get in to bother at my bit for being off sick. cant think anyone has ever had an official warning for anything. ive not been off sick for 3 years. i get a massive 100 quid a year extra as an incentive for it. cool.
3 days off at seperate times, or even 3 days off in one go over a whole year id hardly class as bad actually. you'd be in the best health % at my work with that.

I've never had a day off sick in my life.
Wouldn't get away with being sick in my current place either.

Ive had loads this year compared to other years and nothing at all has been said. A few years ago I had 4 days and had a big inquiry into what was going on. It's a Fucking insult as I'm not the type to throw a sicky for no reason. I think it just depends on who your boss is.

In general I will have at least 3 or 4 days off a month. 90% of our workforce do.
It's never been a big issue, I'm in the construction industry as a painter.

We get 3 periods per year. A period, as I found out, can even be going home 2 hours early due to being ill!

A month? lol. I've had about 5 days off total in 13 years and 2 of them were blag in the early days. To save me working a 16 day stretch for the second time in 2 months

Yeah, tbh they don't care.
I suppose it would be different if I was at a desk, but I'm either spraying or blasting so not missed as much.
My week is 6 day minimum ( what's expected of us) sometimes I do seven then take two days off the next week.

Also most of our days off are marked down as unpaid days off not sick days.

Christ, that's public sector levels of skiving.
Had one day off sick this year which couldn't be helped. I'd never take time off normally because I wouldn't get paid.

Most of the time my days off are weekends so not really skiving as it is overtime, were just expected to do all overtime.

at asda we get 1 day sick and you have to sign a form, 2 days sick you have to sit down with a manager and discuss it and then 3rd day (if you haven't brought a doctors note or a close friend/family member has died) then you get a disciplinary notice.... so many of them and your sacked
i only found this out the other day after taking my first and only sick day in almost two years iv been there...
the manager that told me this then had a hangover the following week and didn't show up for work, i know this cos i know someone she was out with
as for my other job, you dont work you dont get paid, simples
