Wil there's no real official leader can't anywhere go in and do something about it? Free the people or whatever? Seems odd that there's still a place like that in today's world

His son has the chance to sort stuff out, and make friends with the South. But looking at the footage of him, I'd say he's under pressure from everyone else to keep, fucking up his country.
