Are the transport links from Edinburgh Airport any good?

Not sure whether to fly up there from Birmingham + take public transport/taxis to places, or do a 5+ hour drive from here

Also, looked into train tickets from here to Edinburgh, flights are about £40+ cheaper than train tickets!

What's it like driving around Edinburgh though - is the city centre easily accessible by car or would it be best to use public transport?

I'm just thinking if it's better to use public transport then I may as well leave the car at home.

Edinburgh centre is a nightmare to drive around. Too much diversions and streets with cobbles.

Do not drive in Edinburgh its terrible. You can get a bus from the airport no problem and a taxi I'm guessing would only be £20 odd at a rough estimate to the centre. It's not far but the traffic can be a nightmare.
Once your there its easy to get a cheap bus or just walk most places.

I wouldnt take the car, city centres a nightmare with the ongoing sham I mean tram project. Parking cost me £12 for 3hrs last time I was there. Train would be the sensible money!!

What kind of food do you like Joe??

Anything to be honest, somewhere fairly nice, decent atmosphere...

Steak, good meat, anything to be fair. Don't really fancy an Indian or Chinese though.

Depends on budget mate but loads of nice places to eat in town:

Smoke Stack on Broughton St - Great Steak
Cantina Mexicana - Rose St (Mexican obv lol)
Living Room - George St (bit of everything - cant go wrong)
Cafe Andaluz - George Street - Tapas
Le Monde - George St (probs better for lunch)
Filling Station - Rose St - Cracking Burger

If pushing the boat out try:

Olorrosso on Castle Street (penthouse type place)
The Honours on Castle Street
Witchery on Royal Mile
The Tower - Chambers Street

If looking for somewhere at night try the Jam House on Queen Street - can do dinner etc and the band are fucking amazing!

Hope that helps!

BTW dont drive in the city centre - were trying to build trams. Couldnt even build fucking scaletrix edinburgh cooncil!

Can get a number 100 bus from the Airport which goes to the centre -comes every 10 mins or something - taxi probs about £25 with all the fannying about with 1 way street!

Hope that helps
