http://www.easternmpower.co.uk/new-bmw/BMW_M3_DCT_Coupe_Contract_Hire_Offer/41/

Brand new ///M3 for 550 a month inc Road Tax.

Tempting, as ive been looking at leasing & this is only £200 a month more than something boring & shit!!

Im pretty certain the depreciation of this car will be more than that of the lease!!

Food for thought!

my focus cost me £414 a month over 2 years (£250 deposit though). so when you consider that, it's a fantastic deal.

£550 a month i know you have a good job, but its still a lot of money to be throwing anyway. Just to be driving a new M3, and i bet you will hardly drive it.

10 months of that and you could have £5500 to spend on a car

Without looking at the link, I assume that's £550 a month and then at the end of it you give the car back and have nothing?

Depreciation James, thats all your paying for.

Which IMO is a shortfall on the rent in this case.

If you buy, you can come worse off.

Bloke on the M3 forum 'bought' a brand new M3 (fully spec'd) for 70k 18 months ago & just traded it in for 44k against a new M5!! Thats hardcore!!

Like I said, just looking around / window shopping!!

If you'll lose more than £16k depreciation over 2 years then its a no brainer.

Buy a 5yr old one for £25k cash....

MOT - ££
Road tax - £££
Warranty or repairs - ££££
Depreciation - £££
Cost of a loan should you need one - ££

I reckon there wouldnt be much in it....IF you want to be in an M3. Thats all.

Or buy a brand new one, sell after 2 years and lose £25k in depreciation. I know which i'd rather do.

i see what you mean about it being a good choice when compared to depreciation.

I think you should do it, i want to see pictures of your rented M3 in your garage, just sat there like a trophy. You could show all the other M3 owners in the same situation as you and share the joy of the experience

Yep I should just get 12yr old 150k mile cat C repaired nail of a E46 M3 for 6k cash & get battered financially month on month with the expensive upkeep & have it in my garage when it breaks down like an ornament to show all the other M3 owners in the same position that could have had a brand new one

Cash flow - options, you pay your money you make your choice.

you won't be allowed to paint anything black if you rent it.

Major downside imo

Buying used can have its pitfalls, set of brakes, tyres & the major service will see you to the tune of four thousand pounds easily.

New one wont need much doing in 24 months, so taking that into account is a simple way into ownership with no scary bills I guess.

Figures plucked from thin air?

I'd rather own my own car personally. If I had to get a new M3.

Its just buying a car, handing over money, getting in the car, driving it, parking it, driving it. All those pitfalls are the fun of owning and maintaining a car.

don't see the hobby side of it there.

tbh a bit sick of joining car forums, only to find people are posting pictures of car they bought on finance or rent. All the hobby is about is how much money this will cost or what might that cost if that happens.

its killed the car scene for people like me, may as well be looking at my dads company cars and telling him well done.

I do still love you though mate and hope my mini rage makes sense without me looking mad or jealous

So true.

I can't really argue as my next car will probably be partially financed. The things I don't really agree with are people going out and buying 90%+ of a car on finance and then making out they are some big player as they have an expensive car. I guess the same could be said of this leasing rubbish, although if someone wants to spend £16.5k over 2 years and have nothing to show for it then be my guest.

No not at all, you have a valid point. Im past the point of caring about rolling about in puddles and getting cold / scrapped knuckles......I get my fill of that at work fixing scapheap challenge in the North Sea for weeks at a time. A get in & drive luxury car appeals for my down time.
