I had the same engine in a Astra J as a works hire car last week, was surprisingly fun and pretty nippy!

make a baby, buy a big car.

even though said car is no bigger than a focus/astra etc.

always makes me laugh when people on ebay sell their golf's/focus etc as they've had a baby so ''need a bigger car''.

Nothing says I've given up on life and now I'm just going to exist more than buying a MPV.

Even if I had a kid now I wouldn't sell the MiTo, it's got ISOFIX and enough room for a baby seat.

Depends on the age of the kids and how much stuff you're having to take everywhere you go TBH
I can't fit much else in the boot of the focus if I've got the pushchair in there

Anyone that still wanted to retain a bit of respect would just buy a nice looking estate instead of a full on window lickers family wagon.

People managed before MPVs came long. There was me and my 2 brothers in a Cavalier SRI 130 back in the day

I went from 5 door Astra SRI to a 3 door Astra VXR when Jen was preggers the first time! Everyone thought I was mad. It was fine though. We did a 2 week holiday round UK in it with a baby no probs, although I had to stuff the empty spare wheel well with stuff to get everything in!

But I knew if I didn't get a VXR then i'd be waiting years for a performance hatch.

2 kids makes a difference though. Hence me wanting an A4 Avant next! The saloon A4 is fine atm but the boot height is restrictive, especially if we plan on doing 2 weeks in France by car. Want to avoid a roof box if poss! So it will be a dog guard and use the height!
