Just curious would this would go from either privately or from a recognised trader.

See them go for upwards of £1200 on AOC, if I break my GSI I'm going to try and sell mine with a phase 1 ECU for £1400, hopefully it'll be easy to sell!

I'm not buying, I'm thinking of stripping a few, Turbo Chris is doing them for £1500+, wasn't sure if anyone actually pays those prices?

You fancy one for a grand if it comes up? There are two VXRs on there at the moment but they're going to go over £2k. Thinking a Coupe Turbo would be cheaper to buy.

There's a Zaf GSi as well, Bristol though, that's £100 to go get it.

I wouldn't bother, it's a right mess about tbh, you get so many time wasters it's unbelievable, I find a sell more on pistonheads than I do on forums too

Just wondering how Chris does it, must be people buying them, the rest of the car can't bring in that much, he buys them as working cars as well not salvage.

Yes mate.

There's a new shape Zaf VXR just been listed as well.

Red Astra looks too good to strip, it's also already loads of money.

A lot of corsa c owners seem to be buying them. Turbo Christ told me he pays about £2k for a standard gsi, he probably makes his money back on the engine and wheels nearly, he does charge top money for everything though...

People pay a lot extra from people like turbo chris, I don't see the point personally because when he gets a car in he doesn't know the history of it etc, probably just run it for a few minutes then list it as 'mint'. And if a full gsi cost 2k then chances are its had a hard life and engine won't be so good.

Same what happened with bigron, the chap that sold him the gearbox was told it had a quaife in it so it was sold like that. So anyone can contact turbo chris now and sell him a full running car and claim its got forged internals etc then he would sell it on with that spec, even though its never been checked.

I would rather buy from a trusted forum member

a lot on ebay from £600, ok not complete engines (looms missing etc) but wouldnt imagine it would add much more than £400.

GSi's are hard to sell now, I doubt i'd get much more than £2.5k for my GSi now, or I'd struggle to sell it as a whole, which is why I am contemplating breaking it myself.
