Hi chaps,
I am going to view a corsa gsi tonight that has a c20let fitted, however I have been told by someone that it has a c20xe with a let turbo fitted to it.
How can I tell if its just a c20xe with a turbo whacked on compared to a let?
owner said its running approx 10psi?
I dont want to buy it if its just a c20xe with a turbo whacked on really, id sooner buy a let and build one. Just fancy this as its local

I'd be wondering why the numbers have been grinded off?

What sort of reading would a let give and then a c20xe? obviously the latter would be higher

You might be able to tell by looking at where the head joins the block. Not sure if you will be able to see a shit load of headgaskets, or even a de-compression plate.
Standard XE pistons won't last mins with 10psi of boost.

apparently it has been done using let pistons but using standard c20xe loom and ecu?
Would i be able to see the oil pipes from the turbo? how could he have done them without drilling the block?

Only have to drill the return, or could put the return into the sump if your a pikey.

iirc turboing a C20xe would requier a remap on the ECU so if it is a basic ecu he is using then ether the EML will be on and there will be more lag to it than a LET

c20let built properly is not a pain in the arse nor unreliable, This is were the vauxhall scene is a let down we never wish to spend serious cash and so we never get the optimum. vag boys and ford boys no matter the cost there cars get it!
xe n let differences block is the same but let has a hole and has been tapped for turbo oil return, piston are different, cams are different, throttle body is different, loom and has couple extra sensors. the turo oil feed is already in the block it has a allen key screw in blocking it. oh and a turbo
All the big block gearboxes are interchangable obviously the correct flywheel and clutch are required
I am sure the majority of people will know what I said but said it to answer the thread question of c20let and "c20xe" (I assume)
this little bit of info may help it tells you a few differences between an actual LET and a basic XE witch means if you look at the block and these are not there then its a EX turbod and not a LET

Unless the comp has been lowerd it would run untill the boost came in and started detting its tits off and with that you would expect to see no life from that engine. But if it has the throttle body, injectors, pistons, let managment, decent oil return ect and runs fine then i dont see a problem and its more or less a let

thats the thing, apparently everything has been swapped over to a let apart from the loom/ecu

like wwwnoobcom said as soon as boost kicks in the car would under paform due to not having the managment for the turbo so your best bet would be to test drive it and give it a little bit of a kick and see the cars responce
