basically took my corsa in for mot the other day and it failed on a few things however when it was there somehow he reckons he pulled my braided brake line and it snapped so fair enough brought the parts it failed on and took it back in today for it to be repaired was told would cost £160 if he orderd parts or £1oo if i got them

i brought
handbrake cables
brake hose
cv boot

went back in to collect car today after having these fitted told me it was 5 hours labour as he couldnt get the handbrake adjuster off and the braided line was sezied in

i feel ive been ripped off i could of changed it all in around 2 hours and im not mechanicaly minded i was charged £216

Why did you pay for the hose when he admitted to snapping the braided line?

If its taking him 5 hours, that's because he's shit, not because that what the job costs.

urm basically the pipe was split i drove it home as i live round the corner the breaks wernt working and i dont see how you can snap / split a braided line , he said i needed new disks because you had to apply the brakes hard to get the left side to lock up said it was because the hose had split which even i know is a load of bollocks he said they were seized so it took 5 hours of heating up the parts to get them off he kindly charged me for four !!!! couldnt really argue with it i would of done it myself if wasnt working all time

5 hours of heating up? It'd be a molten puddle on the floor.

I think he saw you coming to be honest and got his lube ready, cause you literally just got anally raped...

That's absolute bollocks, take him to trading standards. He'd expect you to pay for something if you broke it in his workshop. Id tell him where to go and find another garage or do the work yourself.

The question is, what the hell was he doing to split a braided line? Taking it off with the old hot spanner?? You shouldn't have payed for that mate if it was him that broke it in the first place surely?

Also if he was replacing your handbrake why didn't he just cut the old one off rather than messing about spend time taking it off.
