Not for me, for the missus; Disco is up for sale as she's going back to Uni in Septemeber and needs to free up the cash now the laons paid off on it.

She was going to have a 8L A3 but has now decided on a first generation Audi TT hardtop, has to be a Quattro. Anything to look out for?

225 iirc, 1.8T. Is this the same base engine as I'd have had in my A3 1.8T Sport. That was 150hp as standard so I'm familiar with that spec of engine but not sure if the 225 has uprated parts or is a whole different engine

We had a ph1 v6 quattro. Lovely car and in the 5 or so years we owned it the only fault it had was the gearbox failing and being the dsg it would of cost a few thousand to fix but luckily it was still under warranty and needed a new coil once. Other than that it was great and lovely to drive.

It's a bigger turbo K04, twin side mounted intercoolers....ermm can't remember the rest. Basically the same as your old one.

The fan speed controller is a major fault on these (mine went). To replace the fans it's £400 from a dealer.

I fitted a Nime box.

it will have a bigger turbo k04 so can be mapped to around 280 easy. Coils are a issue but they are reliable cars generally a 225 will be a BAM engine.

8L is the model (first generation); I didn't mean that anyway, I had an 8L, I meant 8P (second generation).

Instrument cluster
Coil packs go (same as any 20v)
Breather hoses split, from inlet and under plastic cover.
Rear coil springs snap.

Very fun and very reliable IMO great cars.

I owned mine 18months, 1 coil pack, 1 breather hose, 1 rear spring and 1 instrument cluster all replaced under warranty.

Instrument panel Audi will replace FOC
Breather was £10
Coil £28
Spring £50

So not bad considering, just general wear and tear!

Preferably towards the lower end of the budget as its coming from the sale of the Disco and she needs to free up about £10k for her LPC fees at uni

Not so bad these days, lots of places do them so the competition has driven the prices down.

Very common though, have seen loads for sale stating pod issues.

when i was looking I found cheaper ones tend to be good in pictures but quite ropey overall. (just seen your budget though so shouldn't be an issue)

As it's for the missus i wouldn't get a QS as the seats aren't the most comfortable around.

Usual 1.8t issues as already stated with fans, coils

Quattro Sports have buckets, no rear seats, rear strut brace, alcantara wheel and other bits i cant think of. 240bhp too. They're the ones with a black roof and multispokes from factory, V6 diffusers too

She'd like that more tbh, She's likes to think of herself as a bit of a "girl racer" for want of a better expression

look out for a hairdryer and a set of GHD's.
Rear springs, coils, basically the car is based on a Golf MK4, so any major golf problems which is shared, dashboard dials and also window mechanisms
