Pretty sure there is an old bunker under the end of the garden as we live around the edge of an old airfield.

I have often considered this and I do not think the concept is as ridiculous as some people make out.
You saw the publics reaction to the tanker strike threat. Also to a much lesser extent, stamps
Imagine if a precious commodity such as water/food suddenly became scarce, this Country would self destruct.
Have you ever seen Humans go into self-centered preservation mode? It is not a pretty sight, utter chaos and you will be surprised the lengths people go to when it is every man for themself.
I think anyone in a major population centre would be automatically fucked anyway. You would need Sentry Guns from the Sulaco to defend your supplies.
All you angry Scottish people in outlying settlements would have a better chance.

Don't have an emergency cupboard tbh, unless the bottles of whiskey and rum count? Couple of tins and that's about it really. There's an air raid shelter at work, it's fairly obvious but very few people know of its existence.

what car would you seek out though in a 28days later scenario?
I think I'd go for either a long wheelbase rag top Defender or a trip to Bowler which is only 15miles from where I live and steal a Nemesis off the production line; then head to the most unihabited place I can find

When I was flying back from the Canaries and we got diverted to Paris for the night due to the snow you should have seen the shit that went down.
The airline had to find a hotel for everyone and people were literally bundling for the Coaches. When we got to the hotel there was a mass bundle for reception. I have never seen fat people or the elderly move so fast.
We had about 4 hours before we had to get back to the Airport and people were panic bundling to check in first just so they could get an extra 10 minutes sleep.
I have never seen behaviour like it and couple this with how the public reacts to things like the fuel thing, God help us all if we ever had a 'Real' emergency.
