I thought the turbo was different and maybe injectors. Either way I'm sure it's more than just a map.

All of the above and the sri"s don't have under piston oil squirters and the VXR's do .
Easily tuneable up to vxr power and beyond tho , mate has a 260 bhp one

Found this on the internet:
quote: as far as i was aware the only differences (other than aesthetic) were:
1. the VXR has under piston oil jets, giving 'extra cooling' - hence the slightly different engine code
2. the VXR has centre exit exhaust, due to where the backbox is located this gives a very slightly shorter overall pipe length
the under piston oil jets do not allow for any greater performance to be harvested from the VXR engine - the outputs will be EXACTLY the same, only difference being, the VXR may be a bit more reliable when tuning to the higher end of the scale.
an aftermarket exhaust will certainly sort the noise difference out between the VXR and SRi, iirc some aftermarket exhausts for the SRi have backbox located in a different place, giving a shorter overall pipe length. the only difference between the exhausts are supposedly from the cat back. however the difference is more likely to be present just with the backbox.
the rumors about the VXR harvesting 10bhp more power at each stage is not correct, as mentioned, both engines are basically the same with exception to the under piston oil jets. the pistons and gaskets are the same as this would not have been financially feasible to design all new internals for what is effectively the same engine. it would have been alot cheaper for them to use a different turbo to force feed the powerplant - which of course we know this not to be the case

I personally prefer the look of the Corsa D SRi. Vxr looks a bit ott. Subtle is better.

Can be tuned to 200-300bhp with the right mods.
A lad on AON has the 1.6T running 300bhp+

Yes they are fairly rare as I'm not sure why anyone would opt for one over the Vxr. Also looking at used prices they seem to be very similar priced to Vxr's..(on Autotrader)

What are they standard 150? approx 50% power increase from just a remap?
