Morning

I've had enough of worrying about MOT's, maintaining my car, and the cost it has on me at the minute.

I need a reliable new car which isn't going to cause too many problems, and have thought about leasing a car.

Some places are doing great deals of around £200p/m for a brand new car which you can exchange for a new car after 3 years. I know it's probably dead money if such as you wouldn't actually own the car, but any maintainence problems apart from tyres IIRC would be sorted.

Does anyone do this? Would anyone recommend ?

Just fed up of driving my car and the cost it has to me etc

Fixed cost motoring FTW.

I wouldn't bother asking on here though tbf, you'll just get a bunch of hero's saying if you don't pay for it outright you can't afford it etc..

Fair enough.
Some people on here must do this though?

Colin does, there is a thread a few threads further down the page.

What sort of car are you looking for?

Abarth500's can be had for about £200p/m but its a 4year term and needs a £2k deposit.

200p/m doesn't get you much, double that for anything nice and by nice I mean like a half decently specced saloon, nothing special.

Was looking at getting a DS3 (DStyle+ trim) for about £200 a month - seem to be able to get quite a few small cars with mid level trim for that amount a month. Was with a £700 deposit mind.

Yup, especially when the main dealer wanted £2k deposit to get the payments to that level.

Some good deals though!

Wouldn't say it's dead money. Better than having to stump up the full price for a brand new car in one go.

Yey that's the win right there.

The way i justify it is I got a car that rrp's 27k for forty quid a week!!

I pay half as does the mrs. She's paying the same as she was for a 5yr old fiat but without the old car hassles.

It just works and makes so much sense.

The problem I found when looking at a lot of the plans was the restricted mileage, 6000miles per year would be about a fifth of what I'd actually do and the over mileage charge seemed excessive

Mines on 10k a yr but if you trade it for a new one or buy it after the term it doesn't incurr any milage charges.

You pay the depreciation, so the loss would be the same as buying the car and selling it in three years time and as you say, you don't have to stump up the cash up front.

I looked at this type of deal but all were limited mileage. I need 20k a year tbh.

Also theres the risk of getting bummed on any minor damage etc etc at the end of the deal.
