I have just looked online and I am working 4:30pm - 1:30am today.

& tomorrow I am scheduled for a 5:00am - 3:00pm.

The manager must of scheduled me wrong as by law you need 11 hours rest between shifts.

When I go into work tonight what shall I say as I have booked a doctors appointment for 4:00pm tomorrow

By law do I have to go in? Should they give me the day off?

it's pretty obvious they fucked up. they will give you it off.

also that law is a lie. i've done plenty of weekend overtime with 8 hour gaps in between shifts.

You have a right to 11 hours, but its not law, just a directive.

Just get on with it?

Fuck me, you should have seen some of the shifts I did in hotels.

If you get your head down and get on with it and stop moaning you may actually get somewhere in life?

Just to add, obviously if they were doing this to you everyday then fair enough its not right, but a one off?

As a manager i'd be really impressed if i'd fucked up on the rota, given someone shitty shifts and they just cracked on with it and did it.

Ditto.

Although our managers think it is ok to put the rota up on the day it commences.

Really? I would be really impressed if one of the McDonald's workers shown some initiative and came forward.
If his shift finishes at 1.30am, its going to be atleast 2am before he's asleep and id guess he'll need to be up 4.30am to get ready and be in for 5.

Dont be a moron.

*edit* the best thing he can do is speak with the manager, say he obviously cannot be in for 5am and he has a doctors appointment at 4pm, but would be happy to start at ??am to help out.

I'd be more impressed it the person got on with it. Don't know what you do etc so won't comment on your experience but i've been there, seen it, done it.

Sure, he could raise the problem and get his shifts swapped, but it wouldn't impress me as much as doing them would.

It won't kill him.

Seen as you are booked in at the doctors at 4pm then i think that's a perfect shift for you in order to get the hours in and out on time for the doctors.

Its only a Mcshift, how hard can it be to be rude to customers, get orders wrong, put too much salt on the chips and wank into the mayonaise for 10 hours?

No, done a night shift, leading into a day shift, and either doing the hours in between or going home, sleep and going back to work.
