No need to lift off unless you want it to change up a gear. in which case you just lift it up about e.g if you are at desired speed.

Should just go through the gears if you plant the pedal.

If it's like DSG (pretty sure it is) Will have normal auto, sport auto and then 'manual' for the paddles.

First thing to remember its not an auto at all and it doesn't shift like an auto!

Low speeds they are pretty poor and shifts can be dozy and a bit slow, it all changes when you get up to speed. Dont have to lift off for up changes at all, keep the throttle buried.

Enjoy!

i was going to buy an smg z4 but was put off by the costly repair bills if it all goes wrong.

i've driven a ferrari 430 scuderia and aston v8 vantage with the paddles and it was an amazing experience on track where theres no stopping.

probably not ideal for urban/motorway traffic driving but thats where you stick it in auto at a guess.

Pretty good to be honest, very rapid changes when in the 'auto' modes and also with the paddles. Driven Dad's Mk5 Gti and it was lovely. Mate has DSG in his Mk5 R32 and he loves it as well.

Personally I think I would get bored after a while though with there being no clutch.

Can cost the bomb to replace if they go tits up though.
