How much is a semi decent one nowadays? Doesn't need to be amazing just project onto the living room walled isn't essential but it's for tv and Xbox. We have sky but over an analogue coax feed so I don't know if that would work?

You're going to need an analogue tuner (VCR/DVR etc) of sorts to use your RF feed

Whats that then? Dog shit? Not overly bothered because the way the sky works in ours is that you tune it in to the analogue so channel 1 is sky sports 1, channel 2 is sky sports 2 etc and it's not the best quality anyway and films are just d/l's so we don't need hd

you really want at least 1024x768 "hd ready" that supports widescreen res's
ok it wont be true HD, mine isnt but the quality is still pretty good, better then native dvd, but the fact its a 2 meter screen makes it worthwhile lol, its not a million miles away from sitting in a cinema when you are close to a screen that size

Iv got an Optoma hd65, was £500 and is brilliant so far. About 5 years ago i bought the earlier version and that did me well for 3 or so years. Dont think there's a better picture for the money and the reviews are excellent for them. Can also buy a 3D adaptor for them which again gets decent enough reviews for the money.

I've got on Optoma projector (with bulb) + a brand new spare bulb + a brand new pull down screen for sale if anyone is interested. The plan was to put it all up in my new house, but CBA kicked in. My TV is fine.
I can't remember the exact model of the projector, but i'll let it all go for around £300 (collection)

I still have an old Panasonic 720p projector (PTAE-700) that is great. Its replacement the 900 can be found for 200/300 on ebay.
Blackout material is great for a starter screen. I built a good screen out of some 2x1 and blackout fabric when i first got it.

Ive got a NEC VT460 I Bought off a mate for £10 and its on all the time, use it for my Sky and Xbox and never have any problems with it, could do with having a HD one with better Resolution (sp)

A smooth painted wall will be fine but i bought the proper fabric for the screens and glued it to my wall (i have a full homemade frame and cinema room lol). Was pretty cheap and looks great.

white painted wall is all you need, ive got a light switch in middle of where the projector is but you dont realise its there

We've got a massive plain white wall in the lounge so good to know that will work.
Still can't find much, everything around 2-250 is the same res as the one I posted

It's just a very low resolution to be spread over such a large area, most smartphones have a higher resolution than that now! As abobe you want something with a 1024x768 which will be better.

eBay links are no good we're not getting it until August, cheers though now I know decent ones go cheap second hand I'll keep an eye out.
Is there no issue with buying second hand though with bulbs? Do they not start to burn out and need replacing after so many hours use?

The key thing is to check the hours used. They all can show this. As long as its not high then it should be fine.

you wont notice any difference between hdmi, dvi, or even vga for that matter
the only difference is you wont have the sound carrying part, which you would be running seperatly to a surround sound system anyway
