Never seen an Atom on the road until earlier today. The guy driving it was really giving it some and it looked/sounded awesome. really really want to have a go in one so I've decided i'm gonna hire one for 3 days and go in search of some shit hot driving roads.

been looking at this - http://atomhire.co.uk/ website as they seem decent.
I have inquired about the Atom 245 in Viper green. there are a couple of points i've asked for more info on like the mileage limitation. on the site it says 200 miles/day but the T&C's only say 150.

has anyone done anything like that before? i'm really excited about it plus it'll be cool to take the old man for a few days out as we don't spend that much time together these days.

depending on the answer about the mileage questions i would like to hear about any quality roads that you guys know that are within 150 ish miles of manchester. probably central wales or the yorkshire dales areas.

3k for the one i'm after. i need clarification on the T&C's. i got the impresseion that they don't keep the 3k if you prang it. obviously they will take the insurance excess back though. they guy seems sound actually. he's replied to me within 15 mins with the answer to the mileage question. it is 200/day so 600 for 3 days.

I've asked him that question. we'll see what the response is. My excitement wears of a bit when I think about that!

don't crash and you'll be alright.

if someone else crashes into you, i'm sure you would get the 3k back from the other parties insurance co.

That's what was thinking Ben. Surely if it isn't my fault then they won't be charged the excess. What I am worried about however is if some scrote decides to key it during the night, would they keep it then? Sounds like a top way to make money that. Hire it to some unsuspecting person then go to their house and damage it. I guess if I got car jacked I'd also lose it.

is it delivered to your door or does the mileage effectively run from picking it up to delivering it back; if so 200miles isn't going to go far from Manc. to Tring

Wonder could I hire it to do a hillclimb? Will beat a 1300cc Peugeot 106 anyways!

He will let me do 960 miles instead of 600 for an extra £180. That will cover the miles needed to collect and return it.

Just had clarification on the deposit. They take 3k and in the event of any damage to the car then they fix it within the deposit. So if some dick kicks the wing mirror off for instance and it costs £200 to replace then that's what I pay. So I get £2800 back. If it can't be fixed within the deposit then they have to claim on insurance so then I lose the deposit. I'm happier with that. Sounded harsh for them to keep it all for a minor bit of damage.

Surely you'll garage it overnight? There's not much for anyone to key anyway

Wanted to do this with my dad in an Aston around Scotland - there used to be a few companies doing a 3-day weekend 1000mile job.

£5k deposit put me off that though.

I don't have a garage mate. Live in a quiet cul de sac with a long drive and automated gates at the bottom that are always locked at night. Got 3 CCTV cameras hooked up too so that might deter any dick heads. I could always sleep in the van to keep an eye on it!

I've wanted to do it for ages but in a Lambo or Ferrari etc. there was always something in the terms and conditions from each hire place that put me off. Plus most places the initial hire price is crazy just for one days hire from 9am to 6pm. Some places were about £1500!

Been thinking of other cars to do it in that are cheaper or more fun. Then that Atom flew past me today and I looked into it. Gonna give it some thought over the weekend and let him know on Monday.

Either hire one and book a track day during same time.

Or

Hire one and charge people for passenger rides make money back.

Haha yeah the second one is a good idea. Can hire it for track days but I know I would wreck it. I'm a boring 30 year old so track days, racing etc don't really appeal to me. Would much rather go out by myself and find a decent road and enjoy the drive. Don't get me wrong I would put my foot down in safer places but I just enjoy driving really.
