Well I've decided to sell my Mk4 Astra van as we ideally need another car with having the baby. Keeping the Qashquai as its ideal for what we need for the moment.

The problem is I'm not willing to use much of our savings so don't want to spend more than 2.5K. Insurance and fuel costs aren't a problem but general reliability would be nice.

My first thoughts were to get a classic uk scooby as I can insure it for £500 and I could afford the extra fuel bills but I'm a fussy bugger and want a blue or black one and the only ones I've seen that have been decent are silver/green/red a lad has offered to have my van as a P/X for £1300 for this one but he's over 3 hours away....I've gone through all his old posts etc and seems a nice guy but I don't think I'd be happy with the silver!

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/subaru-444/941322-impreza-uk-2000-with-ppp-1999-a.html

Other cars on my list are a Mk1 Octavia VRS in black for around 2k. Love the interiors and with a remap can be pretty nippy and surprisingly good on fuel, plus I know about 4 Skoda master techs should I ever need anything awkward doing.

Also a MK4 Golf 1.8t, this one looks smart with the BBS reps

eBay No 160833340765

There's also a black one for sale in my road running 260 brake, black 5 door with black 18's and nice full grey recaro leather. I might just test drive this as it caught my eye

Anyone else find anything worth a look?

I was thinking the same thing Ash problem is either one of us would have near a 7 hour round trip to do and the fuel costs in the scooby alone would be about £70! Also having the time to do it would be a struggle with work.

Astra coupe turbo? Hmmm will take a look, I've had a couple of MK4 Astras now so I'm used to them.

I've just messaged him to see what we can sort out John, if he was local it would be a done deal. Also put a post on SN in my region asking if anyone's thinking of selling up.

Not really mate. That one you've posted just shows that there's some very nice examples out there for not a lot of money. I'd have another one at that price.
