You have and are willing to spend up to £4k on a new/used watch.

It has to be fairly discreet as it is worn daily with a suit.

It needs a steel strap for durability.

It must display the date.

What would you consider?

In this scenario, a £500 watch is already owned and a break to Vegas is planned for 2013.

In that case, don't buy new watch, spend £4,000 and use £500 watch

I've not got a price list here and the internet isn't reliable for prices but you'll also get a PAM with date for that I think, I'd be having that over anything else I want just now.

John - thats a good shout tbh. Was looking at them last night, but similar in size (not style) to another watch I have. Plus the MD has one and dont want to piss on his parade.

Rolex submariner, mines just black face and black bezel. Used daily for close to 6 years and it's been battered, the amount of times iv thought the front would be smashed from impact and it's not even scratched and still looks new.

Its on the shortlist tbh - couldnt not overlook it, but prices are climbing for no good reason imo, with little exclusivity.

I wouldn't have thought a PAM would be suitable as a daily due to their size.

I picked picked up a Speedmaster Day/Date for half that new and it is a cracking watch.
