Well as Rich & myself have cars that eventually will be decent but are not ready yet. We decided to build ourselves something cheap and cheerfull that can be raped violently at trackdays without too many issues.
As we both know our way around a corsa b that seemed like the perfect choice to avoid to many issues (well we hoped)
the beginning idea was also that we would take this to germany for a nurburgring trip as neither of us have done that as yet.... no plans for this but this is still our intention.
Anyway onto the car
this is what we purchased..
this is worth at least a handjob :thumb:
we could not handle this power so we are planning on down grading

Then we pretty much got onto adding all the track related parts
Spax suspension
Little service
then onto replacing and putting back together the badassness
suspension being fitted
new dash loom to be fitted as the engine loom had been wiried up different to either of us has seen before and my car neeeded a new dash/car loom so i had the origional and this car had the one that came with the engine
then onto getting the engine together, used my old gearbox which was minus the clutching arm and release bearing... we did not have the correct parts to hand but fitted the engine and box anyway as dewis said he could refit later on
Bearing was royaly ****ed so on with a new one
New ****ty exhaust gasket i found in my shed

New botom Ball Joints all fitted

Got Rob to skim them on the lathe cause I was busy
All fitted and ready - bleeding was needed.... badly msl:
the rears gave a bit of a fight, especially when the bleed nipple broke and we needed a new rear cylinder

Project pikey racing strikes again msl:
Got given a tigra from one of my old bosses, so thought it would be rude not to relieve it of its 15" alloys, have manage to get some part worn uniroyal rainsport 2's for £10 a corner so will whip the tyres off these an get the new wet tyres fitted so if it pisses down at combe we have a back up plan

Final update before Coombe
Rear brakes were dragging so gave them a clean and free'd everything off
Was too oily to get any other pics :-)
Then the temp gauge was not working so changed the sendor and it was jobs a gooden :-)
This had potential to fail to sorted out a temp fix
Then onto the bit I'm most pleased about :-)

Nothing like last minute mods, Ash put me on to guy who sells part worn uniroyal rainsport 2's for £10 a corner :clap:
So whipped off the ditch finders and set off to pick up the new tyres, bloke was mega sound and gave me 6 tyres for £40
So now we have decent wet tyres as Combe is looking like it could be wet :cry:

Well got to say the car held up really well on track today :clap: Neither of us had driven the car other than up and down the close so weren't sure what to expect tbh, but the car out exceeded our expectations
The first two sessions were wet so we were on the rainsport 2's which held up well on the very slippery track, but once it had dried out we did two more sessions but with the A048's and 888's and the difference was amazing the grip levels were outstanding and I felt we could really start pushing the car to its limits
We had no real issues with the car other than a oil leak and a slight knock on the drivers side (probably the driveshaft needs re torquing) so all in all a brilliant first outing :clap:
If anyone has any photos of the car on track can you please post them up :thumb:

During the second session our clutch decided to start slipping and was very hard to select gears once warm, managed to adjust cable until it stopped slipping but I think the gearbox fluid (free from work) was not up to the job so once hot made it differcult to select gears, so will drain that out and put some decent high temp stuff in

Well an update at last :clap: Car has been sat there since Combe looking a bit unloved so seeing as I have a few more days holidays thought I'd kill half a day and start fixing the faults from the last track day, which were:
Bad oil leak from sump
Knocking noise from wheel area
Sloppy steering
Started off by draining the oil out and whipped the sump off, already had a 8v gasket which is a bonus and cleaned out the sump so I can take it to work and put a baffle plate in, while I was at it I cleaned out the pick up pipe and the relief valve, looked a bit scored so glad I gave it a clean as this engine hasn't long been rebuilt so was good to get the last of the swarf sludge out the sump etc

Also whipped the rocker cover off ready to do the breather mod to it as I noticed a few puffs of smoke out the back after hard cornering
Tighten the driveshafts up as they had worked slightly lose will try and make a shim as can't quite get 2 washers in there and a split pin.
Found that the passenger side track rod end has died causing our sloppy steering, I thought it was the rack at first so was happy to find it just a rod end
We've bought some spare knuckles in case any break and will eventually get round to doing the VAG bearing conversion
And finally fitted the harness to give it more of a track feel and obviously more safety and grip in seat
Just need to remove pretensioners and buckle as I didn't have a torx bit
Have also bought some ARP rod bolts just for piece of mind so will fit them next weekend while the sump is off :thumb:

One of Riches dads old shirts ;-)
Only wiped sump out and carb cleanered the pick up pipe, pipe wasn't really dirty tbh just more out of habit to clean stuff while it's off

tbh ive missed working on this car the last couple of months..lol
its such a rewarding car by keeping it quite basic making it alot of fun for not alot of money or ballache..lol

Small update, got given a SBD type c manifold as its a little worse for wear, so needs plenty of tlc and repairs
Fits on alright so that's a start (used to be on a rally car that had a smash)
