Hey everyone

Right long story short am buying a car from a friend in Bradford and need to get it home in kendal,Cumbria. A good 70miles.

The car has no tax or MOT!

Am I right in thinking if I booked it for a MOT in a garage up here,I was driveing it to there am I braking the law and will i get done for it?

Sounds daft I know but I don't have a trailer to tow it back

Thanks Toby.

I don't think you'd be able to blag a 70mile MOT if they stopped you tbh.

thanks everyone. this is you can't tax a car with no MOT so surely a copper can't do you for it as it's not your fault? reason it's comeing so far is the garage it's going to a mate of mine and he's MOT'ing it for nothing!

An MOT is about 30 quid is it not? If that's the only reason surely it's much simpler getting it done local to the car.

Don't be a cock and get it trailered. If you have an accident regardless of fault you will be in a whole heap of shit.

Technically if you are braking the law you are probably going nowhere. If you are breaking it it could be a issue.

IIRC, its not yet been enforced the distance in which you can travel with no MOT (when driving it to a pre-booked MOT) so really, if its inured then you can't legally be done for it if you get pulled over. It is a grey area, and they are doing something about it though so you might get a bit hassle.
