Morning guys.

Need to cancel my current insurance today as had a much cheaper quote with another company. (Paying £2700 with flux direct, now £1200 with Elephant )

What is the best way to go about this?

Would it to send the cancellation form email to Flux first, or do I ring Elephant first and set up my new policy?

If I ring Elephant first will they say anything about already having an existing Policy on my car? Or can't they tell that?

Any replies are appreciated.

I've rang up and had my NCB on two cars at once whilst I was changing car and they never said anything.

Cancel then take out new one. They'll ask for proof of no claims in the first couple of weeks which you can send to them,

I have to email them saying that I want to cancel. From there they send me a letter out with the amount on that I have to pay. My current insurance won't be cancelled until I receive that letter, ring up who ever and pay will it? Or will it cancel immediately?

Email them WTF? Pick up the phone and tell them you want to cancel, like every other insurer in the UK

Can't apparently. I rang em and they said, I have to email them saying, I want to cancel, I will destroy all insurance documents etc... Then wait for a letter to come through showing me the cancellation charge. Then I have to ring up and make the cancellation payment.

That's bollocks (not what you're saying, that you have to email to cancel!). I'd ring back and kick up a fuss, if they don't do it then send the email and keep a copy with the sent date and time, stating you've DESTORYED the documents and stating your insurance shall end on the xxx at xxx o clock. Then take the policy out with Elephant

I'd set up the new policy before cancelling your old one Luke just to be on the safe side You know what insurance companies are like!

I have no no claims, I've only been driving 5 months. I've just turned 19 so decided to do a re-quote. £2700 down to £1200. So cancelling my current one, and taking out my new one. Which is an accelerated 10 month policy. So I only lose 2 months... I'll be paying £150+ less every month.

Yeah, think i'm going to do this. Get the elephant one started before. Got my quote and reference number and everything ready, just need to ring up and start it!

I pay monthly as I couldn't pay £2762 or however much it was in full.
£232 to cancel my current one.

Not sure if you're taking the piss or not.

Im 19, I am the policy holder, but have put my mum and dad down as named drivers.

No no claims as I started driving when I was 18. I heard on the radio about the insurance prices for lads going down due to the new insurance laws. (Something about it wasn't fair how 17-21 year old women pay less that men). He basically said all 17-21 year males should do a requote. I did and saved £1500. :O (I think me turning 19 had a big effect though!)

Is Elephat still a one off payment? as in you cant pay monthly with them???

Just be careful cancelling your current policy mate, don't know how flux work but I once cancelled a policy with Quinn direct about 3 months after I renewed it with them,they charged me £380 to cancel!!

Nope - Can pay monthly. Just 10 payments of £120.11 for me.

I know mate, they already gave me the figure over the phone. £232 to cancel.
