Got height adjustable only. Is there more to it than slapping them on and winding till height looks correct?

My car is utter shite to drive and I can only blame my suspension now.

Am going out to have an adjust. See what I can achieve. Putting potatoes in the drivers seat and everything.

They are KW V1 inox version. Meant to be ok.

After you have set the height the way you want it needs a 4 wheel alignment. Proper laser jobby.

Are they old or new??

Might be in need of a rebuild tbh. With height adjustable only, the lower you go, the worse the ride seems to get. Your car isn't all that low tbh so wouldn't have thought raising them up will make masses of difference.

I am going to lower it. Rear is as high as possible and I think its to do with my springs and the way the weight transfers over bad roads which is making it crazy. Got mental torque steer now. Like major left right left right all over the road and I'm steering like a Japanese drifter. Always correcting it. Dampers seem to be working well. But car is too stiff.

Slam it but with the front end lower. Well don't slam it just get it to a nice lowness then drop the front end a few more mm. Will help with the handling abit. Then take it to a decent Motorsport company with a 4wheel alignment centre and get it set up properly. Will cost you around £100 but they will be able to tell you well 0.5deg of camber on the front will help your turn in but you have to match the toe to the camber or what ever it may be. I personally bought shite coilies for the corsa and there quite low. Fronts lower than the back. Drove like shite. Put 0.5 on the front and it did handle a lot better. Not saying its awaome cos its a corsa but you get my point haha

If the car is stiff just now, lowering it more won't make it softer.

Don't you have polybushes all round too??

I just had it all 4 wheel aligned and camber done. And still weren't happy. I have it quite high and it means the springs are really compressed. Lowering should mean I have more spring travel. Only got polybush on rear beam and front of wishbones. And the engine mounts.

Just lowered the rear and it's a bit better. Going to lower the front after my cup of coffee and hot cross bun.

Might try some koni shocks for a bit. Maybe just the rear for now

This makes no sense. All it means is your springs are pre loaded.

The only extra travel you will get will be in rebound.

Kw1's will be going on my Porsche soon. They're really good.
Set them all to the same height before fitting.then count the turns depending how low you go so you get in the right ball park. Then measure each arch from the floor up through the centre of the wheel.
When happy take it out for a drive then measure again. If all good then get four wheel alignment done.

Or pay a company to do the lot

Needs to be super shiny and covered in dodo juice imo. Looks better then.

Is looking more like a daily shitter though at the moment, just better than most peoples daily shitter.

If it had 17 inch wheels people would be saying "so nice" and "lovely" imo

pmsl i know, deep down i don't like the pic.

I can't help the rear being lower atm, has pretty much the same ground to arch measurements.

All i can do is lower the front more, which i might just do anyway, doesn't seem any more bumpy. Gave up and left it like that as it got dark and i kept on having to jack car up and down, adjust shit, put wheels on, measure, start again

I have kw v1 on my clio 197 and its lovely . . Stiff but still nice to drive. . . Great on normal roads . . And good on track.

Cos I this I got kw v3 for my van, twice price of the v1 and was never happy with them, sold them in the end and gone very much more track focused with Gaz gold. . .

I never even had clio tracking done after lowering, 20k miles latter tires ware fine etc. . . Think some cars just react beta to some suspension kits than others. .

On my van I almost preferred my cheap 160 quid raceland coilovers to the 1250 kws. . . Lol

It does make me wonder why the later corrado left the factory with tractor ride height, i reckon it was an attempt by VW to adjust corrado for more realistic road conditions, rather than a flat track. I think driving the standard escort for 2yr has got me used to soft comfy suspension etc
