Just been passed that same sex couples can marry in England.

132 Tories voted in favour
139 Tories voted against

What the actual fuck. Facists.

P.s. this is a mature thread for adults

there really isn't any argument against it that isn't old fashioned. it's impossible to deny someone the right to marry just because they aren't attracted to someone of the opposite sex.

i'm not particularly in favour of gays (especially the ones who feel the need to act like a token gay in public) but even i can see they have just as much right as we do to get married.

What Ben said.

Not massively paraded in my face there's no reason it shouldn't be allowed.

Test is whether priests will be willing to do the job of course, our whether it'll be pretty much registries only...

It should be legal, but a priest/church shouldn't HAVE to marry them. Eg if 2 men tried getting married they can't expect a religion that is against it to marry them.

I think in this day and age, of course they should have the same relationship rights as heterosexual couples

HOWEVER, I cannot fathom why they would want to be joined in a tradition that is overseen by an institution that is so wholly against what they are?

I think the bill includes a part where they won't force churches to do it, which is fine I guess.

I just can't wait till they pass a bill on banning churches tbh

Churches won't be banned they will just turn to mosques like near me. It's fucked up.

All religion is stupid. Just my opinion.

Same sex marriage doesn't bother me in the slightest. And I'm sure if it did bother you, you wouldn't be getting an invite anyway so what's it matter?

You bellend.

Obviously a story book that dictates a man walked on water, rose from death, made water in to wine, fed 5000 people with a few fish and was born to a make believe man in the sky should have a say in the laws

nothing like a big fuck you to the powers above

Serious though - surely it's about what it symbolises for the couple not what the chirches think of them.

Really not arsed about the subject, ignorance to the subject assumed that a civil partnership could be held in church.

Marriage is a religious event, that religion is against gay relationships.

Civil partnerships should be for gay couples.
