Right so day two of ownership and it is filthy already! Here are my opinions, having owned a multitude of cars from an A3 to an Impreza I have owned them all. Apart from a 4x4.

Styling

The car IMO has a very aggressive front. You can clearly see the American typing influence with the quite boxy looks com papered to the mk1. When parked together the mk1 has a squat mean look whereas this is more of an angular aggressive look. Both have their own pleasant aesthetics. The car does need the appearance pack in my opinion, the tinted windows set it off.

I was sceptical of the 17" wheels. I was concerned they make be too small. In reality they look fine and the liquid colour they are again sets off the grey well. Owing to the mileage I do I am happy with the comfort.

Comfort

The seats are very comfortable. The full leather in the Titanium X I test drive was just as comfortable, but at least this means no burnt backs in the summer should the t shirt ride up! The seats are supportive and not too firm, not soft either. They have lots of adjustment and the lumbar support is fab on the drivers seat.

Performance

To be expected this is not going to be exciting in this vehicle. Coming from a 170 bhp diesel A3 it isn't quite as UNHCR. That being said it pulls well in all gears, and second does have significant punch once you get over the quite surprising lag. The awd system is very technical and I believe gives a better impression of acceleration owing to the enormous amount of grip you get upon acceleration.

Economy

This is a little disappointing at this stage, on a quite gentl drive back from Birmingham circa 160 miles I managed an average of 39mpg. Today however driving sensibly round town this has gone up to 42. I am anticipating nice the engine has run in a little more I should see low 40s combined...hopefully!

Handling

To be blunt, it handles like a hatchback, there is minor roll and it is sturdy in its wheels. I haven't hammered the thing, but general driving would not lead you to believe you wee driving a car quite so big. The car came with Hankook which is suprising, I am not sure on the quality of Hankook tyres and if they are in the same league as perhaps Dunlop or continental?

Equipment

So I have the middle of the range and it has everything I need. The auto lights work brilliantly. The vehicle dispatch even shows the lights on the display car! Setting up the DAB and my phone was a doddle taking approx 20 minutes. The stereo has lots of buttons, but once you are set up the Ford SYNC in theory means you don't have to touch the stereo to do most things.

The power button is a nice touch, just remember to always have your keys on you!

Opinions

Overall I am very happy with my decision. Compared to others I saw, such as the Sportage and Ix35 this is in somewhat if a different league. It is comparable to the Mazda CX5 which I know is a big competitor. The downside of the Mazda was the very bland interior

The car is well styled and finished well. The interior doesn't feel cheap. The interior is actually a combination of gloss black and grey so I am happy with the Sterling Grey as it matches the interior trim.

If anybody wants more information, specific pics or measurements then do let me know.

This is the write up i did for kuga owners club btw!

Yeah I agree to be honest... looks like a backwards step from the old one.

However interior is funky and those dials are brilliant!

wheels are far too small, needs the 19's, but they look better in the metal.

Saw some in work waiting to go out to happy customers, and I must say the white ones have far more visual impact.

Interior is a massive step up in quality compared to my dads.

Hopefully ford ownership treats you well.

One just drove past me. Was in black with 19's and appearance pack. Front was lovely, but that rear end is far too squared off and doesn't suit the car IMO.

Obviously it's all subjective, so as long as you like it that's all that matters.

Mate has the shape before this, feels like your going roll over everytime you go round a corner, like driving a boat

Hopefully they've sorted that in the newer one.

I mean those fucking huge black triangles on either side of it they just look like someone got a normal bumper and butchered the hell out of it then left it

It seriously looks like two different cars joined in the middle. It doesn't 'Flow' or have any nice features IMO. The face lifted ST was/is a great looking car.

Now this isn't comparable I know but this is my favourite car design of the moment...New A class

Gorgeous lines etc. This isn't a really expensive car either so can't blame the big vs small company scenario

I like it tbh.

A-class is my favourite current hatchback atm too. The astra is also very nice.

Golf is boring as hell.

Exterior wise, the new Kia Pro Ceed is also much nicer looking than the Focus.
