Right my mate has just posted this on facebook:

quote:
Arses, lost my locking nut key and vw can't give me a replacement....anyone with a 6n2 polo or Lupo not need their factory locking key?

So I replied with:

quote:
go hunting at a breakers yard?

then a bint came back with:

quote:
Surely a locking nut key would be different on each car from factory, like it is when you buy one elsewhere or when you buy like a bike lock etc...? Otherwise it would be pointless, you could just use your own to nick someone else's wheels?

me:
quote:
Your point being?

someone else
quote:
Are you serious Nath? I agree with Becca, its pointless having one if everyone elses fits

bint:
quote:
My point being if he's lost the 'key' then someone else's, or one from a breakers, won't remove his wheel nut? Pretty obvious lol

me:
quote:
omg. I meant to see if there was another Polo 6n2/Lupo there!! I know they are all different *facepalm*

bint:
quote:
What are you trying to say? You think that because he's lost his locking nut key, he should buy a new car? Not really sure what your point is here...

someone else
quote:
Totally agree Becca, Nath surely going to look at other cars has no help or benefit as they wont help in anyway

me:
quote:
So another 6n2 polo locking nut wont fit Jon's?

someone else:
quote:
Why would it? then everyone's wheels would be easily steal'able seems pointless, may aswell not have a locking nut if that is the case

bint:
quote:
It's the locking nut key he needs, I think the point is that he wants to be able to take the nuts off his wheels. He can't replace the locking nuts without the key to take them off in the first place.

me:
quote:
I know what 'key' he needs. But if you're saying that others wont fit, why is he asking if someone has one? Am I missing something?

They won't all be the same but there won't be a different one for each car. You're a hint for suggesting a breaks yard and he's a bunt for asking anyone if they have one tbh!

If everyone wanted to steal each others wheels they would just go buy a set of keys from ebay for removing them, tell her that!

Afaik, vw are all just a male spline tool? My seat and vw were. Vauxhall have a different setup

If they're all the same dependent on make/model, surely VW could supply a new one?

Of course Vw can supply with a new one . If he had half an oz of sense he would drive to Vw and get them to crack each one off until he replaced/found key

Sadly, I'm not, nor have ever been a ginger thus making your attempt at humour incorrect.

There's only a limited number of keys available. I can't speak for VW, but I thought that BMW only have about 10 different keys

What I'm trying to say was:

My mate asked if anyone who has a 6n2 polo or lupo if he can borrow their locking nut.

I said why don't you try scrap yards (as they might have polo/lupos in) but the other two thought i meant from other makes/model of cars.

Right well to me it now looks like your telling him he will find a locking wheel nut key in a scrappy, and the bint is correctly pointing out it probably wont fit anyway?

This was the same at vw. There are various ratios on the splines.
