Job A - Something I really want to do
£18k p/a rising to around £40k in 10-15 years
Job B - Something I don't really enjoy doing
£38k p/a rising to to £45k in 3-5 years
Know which I'm leaning towards pursuing stronger but just curious as to what others would go for

Whilst it may be a struggle for the first few years, actually enjoying waking up and going to work and generally having a happier life outweighs going to a better holiday resort or having the latest gadget or game.

Depends.
If Job A pays all your bills and gives you enough money to be happy on, do it.
However, if Job A only just covered all my outgoings, I would perhaps be more inclined to go for B and live up my free time. Make up for your shit job with awesome leisure time.

Depends if it's a typical non-stress 9-5 and you don't have to bring work home. Unfortunately, a lot of jobs aren't like that though; so the extra 20k might be brilliant but actually being able to enjoy it is a different matter.

Too many factors to properly say what I'd choose. What are the hours? Long term prospects? Responsibilities? Etc etc...
On face value more than double your salary would be too good an opportunity to turn down based on an assumption you wouldn't like working there. Being pragmatic, does anyone truelly want to get out their bed to go and work for a living? I know I don't.

I've loved the two jobs I've held over the last 7 years, but the pay's been average.
If I was offered a nearly 100% pay increase... Not even sure I'd ask what the job was before accepting.

Job A. I've just taken a lesser paid job that is exactly what I want and closer to home to build up my management experience. Saying that, I've been in the job 3 weeks and my Business Manager is already taking about a payrise for as she thinks the money takes the mick

Hmmm if I had a choice of doing what I do now and going back to my old job but at a higher level and earning 20K more a year I'd probably keep doing what I do now (van driver) as I enjoy being out on the road BUT days like today, 8 am start 19: 00 finish piss me off a bit (and its gonna be shit for another week at least) but I come home go to bed and wake up in the morning thinking YEY I get paid to drive, I like driving!

I do, fuck being in bed all day/sat in the house all day! I've been on the dole before and I'd much rather be doing something with my time than not, also the 'celebrity' lifestyle isn't my kind of thing.

i left a well paid job with great prospects, that i hated, to come to college and uni for 5 years to try and get into something i might love.
if i didnt have the uni option, and it was either A or VB i'd take B any day
