Morning
Having changed my car so early into my insurance renewal, I got quite a large refund, of which when on the phone to Churchill I told them to pay it back into my Natwest current account which they confirmed the details.
They have however paid it into my Barclaycard credit card which has no balance so is now nearly £400 over paid.
It’s a card I use purely for emergencies and would rather the money was in my current account, is there anything I can do?

Use it to pay your regular bills, such as shopping, then the money you would have used for that is back in your account.

Yeah thats what I would do.
You can transfer from Barclaycard to current account but thats a terrible idea.

Barclaycard are shit though. I was a huge fan until they closed my account for no reason.
After hours on the phone, got told it was the way I was managing my account.
Funny, as normally I spent about £500 a month on the card paid most of it off, same next month. They get a bit of cash from interest but balance was never over a few hundred pound (after monthly payment).
Funny thing was, they had just massively increased my credit limit too

Agree normally but sometimes you can make a credit card work for you.
I have one of those Santander 123 cards because I get cashback in the super markets and fuel. Clear it every month and get more in cash back than the annual fee.

You also get looked at funny and questioned if you try to pay for anything over a tenner in cash now.

Have the card company transfer it into your account.
I had a lloyds tsb card and got a refund of £60 for an item I had cleared off. Rang the bank and they transferred it into the account I made payments from.

You even have to ask that question?
They are re-nound for having some of the worst rates and T&C's in the market, probably only second to American Express.
Hence why they give a card to anyone!
I'll bet anyone here who has had a credit card their first card would have been a Barclaycard or an American Express Blue.

Same answer as always with these threads.
What if you've got a cashback or an interest free one? Is that still bad?
I've just taken out a Costco Amex one. I'll now get cashback on stuff I buy from Costco, which I wasn't before. So I'm better off.
I think what you mean to say is that if you are terrible at managing your money then a credit card might be a terrible idea. Not that the one specific Barclaycard you are thinking of with a high APR means that everything else is a bad idea.

They'll always win because of stupid people. The rest of us who understand how it works and (this doesn't include you) do admittedly not amazingly, but definitely better than nothing out of it.

I've not paid a penny of interest in the 3 or 4 years I've had credit cards. They've definitely won off of me.

I have different cards for different things. Best is my clarity card, get paid £5 a month to use it and can withdraw cash out of foreign cash machines for free at best rates. Great all rounder
