Getting exciting on the news. Live reports from people stood next to piles of sand. Evacuation happening.

Probably a normal day up north. But sounding serious.

Lines and stations were closed; clearly northerners can't handle a bit of wind.

Train stations had roofs falling in and trees blocked loads of track. Appropriate response

I flew into Manchester this afternoon. The descent to land was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. It was more like being strapped to a rollercoaster. Everyone in the cabin was so tense until we taxied to the terminal

"Storm of the century" was a light breeze in Derby, this one was crazy, havent worked in wind like it, literally had to plant my feet at one point to stop falling over, havent done that before!

145mph winds today, no electricity for 12 hours, snow and rain, trees down everywhere, chimney stacks getting blown off.

Been an arse of a day.

Didn't make the news so not important as light drizzle down south. Try harder.

It's all over the news that you northerners can't handle a bit of wind; think you just need to man up Nic tbh.

problem is you class the north as Birmingham. That's not the north.

They have just evacuated my nan, she lives literally 3 miles from the sea, and 3 miles the other side to the river. Shes in a decent place I would say, but they are expecting the drains to flood places more than the water coming over the walls!

The North needs a bit more drama before we kick off.

That's 2 of at least 6 trucks that have overturned today.
