Where is everyone off to this year?

I'm booked for Chamonix in February and Val Thorens in March.

Hardly! We came home friday and only 2 slopes were open which were getting worse each day we were there. Good luck to the people who have gone for this week.

sounds the same as Bansko; appears to be zero off piste. They put photos up yesterday having lunch on the mountain and they're surrounded by grass.

Grrr so want to go away but just can't afford it with the twins this year.

A lot of resorts look to be light on snow - Tignes looks to have a very thin base.

I went with the family to Pamporovo, Bulgaria over Christmas. Nice place although the bell mafia were a little annoying. It was all artificial snow at the time though

HAHAHA, they're still there then? i went with my mates in about 2004 and they wouldnt leave us alone. They're on your back as you arrive at the lifts in the morning, and they're on you when you leave. They remembered each of our names too, which was worrying. They used to identidy themselves by the brand of hat they were wearing. The one who used to nag me all the time was "Mr Nike" (he pronounced it "NI-KE")

One of my mates was dooped into buying one on the first day, and we didnt let him forget it

Yeah as soon as we got out of the mini bus at ski centre 2 they surrounded the bus lol! And like you say, they remembered our names. I ended up getting one just to stop the harassment, which tbf worked ha! He named himself David from Belfast and was actually OK. And it's a little something to stick on the Christmas tree as a reminder.

Did you go up the old single ski lift!? Jesus wept!

We went to Borovets about 6 years ago, stayed at the hotel at the bottom of the slope, was awesome.

Last year went to Italy and got a villa, can't remember the name of the bloody resort, but it was brilliant, in the milky way area (?) So could get a lift to the top and choose 3 or 4 different mountains for the day

Do many people go traveling and skiing by themselves? Do you get bored on the slopes?

Yeah we did the whole resort. My mates were beginners at the time, but i'd been a few times. The lift which worried me the most was the one with yellow wooden seats...which went across a large valley which had bear prints in the snow!

Never been on my own tbh, but even when i've been away with a group of people who i once thought of as family...i look forward to coming home. Depends on each person tbh.

Never the less though, i miss the slopes. I think that part of life has passed me by now though. I've had some really nasty crashes and been very lucky. What happened to Schumi the other week put it into perspective for me a bit.

It's a weird one really, as on the slopes, you're essentially on your own anyway, or waiting for mates, or them waiting for you. Especially if you wear a helmet

But I personally couldn't do the Apres ski by myself, would end up just getting pissed by myself or being bored

I'm off to the Hintertuxer Glacier in Austria on Saturday, bit apprehensive though as it's been so mild here, not sure if it's all gonna be watery old snow

Flaine is my favourite. Always get up early and ski over from morrilon or samoens. Awesome park there too for some jumps.
The ski back to morrilon is brilliant too. I'm so excited lol

I cannot wait to try my new board; took it for a blast at ChillF and it was awesome there-can't wait to get back country!

My sister used to live in Les Menuires and I went over and stayed with her when I split up with my ex-it was Te single best thing I've ever done; never slept in the same bed twice, even slept in a nightclub once after we had a lock in using ski jackets out if lost property for blankets. Never missed a first lift or last lift - spent most days out by myself or with people I'd met out there, then drank, pulled, slept, woke, boarded, drank, pulled, slept, woke, repeat!

I'd definitely do it again if I was single and I had free or cheap lodgings.
