About time I started a progress thread on this as a few bits have arrived now, gonna be a long one though until its finished as its partwork 
This model is 1:1 scale replica of the prop used in the films and meant to be the best replica yet, designed by the guy who made the other best replica of the original
To get an idea of scale, here is the 1:1 blueprint next to a size 9 shoe
Part 1:
Contained the Turret gun, the cockpit bulkhead and some hull plating
The turret gun actually comes silver in diecast metal, but I decided pretty quickly I was going to repaint everything to my taste
Also decided to drill some small exit holes in the ends of the barrels, previously flat.
Other parts of the gun primed
Cockpit yokes
Everything in the cockpit comes black, so repainted everything from the seats the center console, amde stuff look worn where I could
The rear of the cockpit is actually partially seethrough and a light will go behind to make everything look like its lit up
Part 2:
Contains some more cockpit bits, and the gun turret platform
Heres the painted and weathered gun on the platform, this is how it all comes pre painted. I wasnt keen so it doesnt stay like this
Part 3:
Contains more hull plating and more bits of cockpit, so spiced up the cockpit a bit with hand brushing paint
Part 4:
Contained some more of the metal framework that the hull plating attaches too
This stuff just screws together with connectors, its quite weightly I imagine the final model to not be light
Part 5:
Contained some cockpit tunnel and more plating.
Now this is where I decided to start repainting everything, I felt the factory colours were to unsubtle and garish and a bit toy like, so went out and purchased and air brush and compressor, my first time using an airbrush I hasten to add
Primered up the plating parts I had so far, using rattle can model primer
Then when that dried I started the preshading with the air brush, using Tamiya Rubber black, went over the areas I wanted to darken
Then mixed up a custom colour, 4 flat white to 1 deck tan
Then went over the parts with a top coat, I may even give it a bit more to make it more subtle.
Thats not the finished look though, there is still weathering etc to be done by hand, I bought one of those Tamila weathering master kits, its like a makeup kit
Thats where we are for now

Nice weathering mate.
Is this made by the same people who did the Aston db5? My grandad made that one. Cost him about £600-700 in the end does look cool though.

Few more updates,
Sprayed the panels that are meant to be grey. However before I started i put salt over parts of it
Why you ask, because it achieves a nice worn chipped look
The same panel before, I will do the red panel bits too but had to order some paint in the right colour
Also did some details on the cockpit tunnel, plenty more weather to come on these bits, Iv just had to order some more paint to do it

Shadow from the airbrushing looks strange. What are you going for with that?
You need either a larger or dryer brush for your dry-brushing. I looks a bit messy.

The 70's ones fetch about 150quid last time I checked.
I've got a mid 90's one, still got the box for it too - never been worth anything significant despite everybody (for some reason) saying "that'll be worth a fair bit" when they see it

What Kyle said. Original stuff ranges from about £30 up to the thousands.
I remember a toy special Antiques Roadshow and this kid had all the figures and his Boba Fett figure was worth a fair bit and very rare.
I still remember going to a local toy shop called Precious's to buy my R2-D2. Still got it too.

I would get an alien vehicle but my painting let's me down. I bought loads of models last time you did them and these threads. But never built them.
