Following on from the "My Street" thread it got me thinking about Jason and his comment: quote: Originally posted by Jason x

. As I live around elderly folks as soon as I come down the road I turn the music down and although my exhaust isn't that loud yet, I try not too make it loud especially when I'm coming home at 11:30 onward of a night, so I have respect for my elders and other people, it was the way I was brought up.
As for Jason's comment I would seriously burn your car if you lived near me.

I drive quietly down any residential roads, especially late evenings. Old or not, just respect the fact people
Need sleep, and have children etc.
Really immature post

Assuming you are quite young compared to the average age of posters on here nowadays?
Your attitude will change as you mature, I hope. That post looks like a 12 year olds attempt for Facebook likes.

We make an effort to socialise with our neighbours.. Our next-door neighbours hold a key for our house and visa-versa (which is very useful!).

Having nice neighbours is the best. No end to the perks of having a good relationship with the people on your street.

I have one set of great neighbours-he's like a retired ninja, I often come home in different cars or trucks and he's outside making sure no one is breaking in to mine in a flash-my missus has adopted him and his wife as their grandparents.
The other side can go fuck themselves...

why would people deliberately want to be a nuisance to their neighbours, if your car is illegal (with decat) the last thing you want is them reporting you to the police and the grief of putting your car back to a legal state.
Secondly, old neighbours are great for keeping an eye out for untoward things happening down the road, better to have them on your side

I live in a proper sleep little down where the average age is probably about 55. I try and be considerate as possible but think irrespective of how hard you try to you will always upset someone.
A few weeks ago I was fixing a throttle issue on my car that was causing it to rev high on idle so was adjusting the cable and restarting the car to see if it was about right, gently revving it to make sure it was tight with no slack etc and making some minor adjustments. Did this 3 times. On the 3rd time my neighbor from next door came round, into my drive and asked if I could stop needlessly revving my car as it was annoying him trying to work - Bare in mind it was about midday on a Saturday
Had a similar encounter with him about 5 years ago when I was setting up my car stereo & sub on the drive. He came round and stood next to me whilst my head was in the boot adjusting the amp, when I looked up it made me jump. He said "you're scaring my cat" and I said "you fucking scared me !". He then went on to tell me to stop it as it was too loud and I promptly told him to leave my driveway.
Don't think me and him are friends.

At my parents' I have Windsors answer to Phil Mitchell on one side, but he's a nice fella and I get on with him, the otherside keep themselves to themselves but they are okay.
At my place I have the local curtain twitcher next door, not massively annoying but she is a nosy parker!

My friend has within the last few years bought a bungalow with neighbours either side.
One side was a lovely old lady, never moaned about anything (when doing building work) and was always happy to have a chat.
The other side is a mentally deranged man who has helpers etc.
My friend said that this bloke used to go in the garden, run round like a gorilla and throw things in to his garden.
I didn't believe him, until one day I was out helping
dig holes for fence posts, when this bloke trundles out, grunts at me and then throws a metal watering can at my head, before storming off inside.

Epic
My neighbours are pretty mild in comparison to some of the stories on here. Old neighbours are definitely the best of the bunch, they always know the street gossip which I like to catch up on.

Fairly quiet round mine until it's eid or a fecking wedding then it's inconsiderate mayhem!
One bastard parked at the top of my drive n fucked off for two hours this weekend! Didn't have a clue which house he had gone to either.
Also when there's a wedding the neighbours constantly bang a drum for bloody hours until about 2am for days on end.
Would be fine but they have about 6 daughters so this is going to happen another 4 times now!

I was out sorting my car yesterday and the guy across the road was having a go at his neighbour and a cunt in a taxi who had parked across his driveway, literally just as they pulled onto it.
Fair play. I can see what he's coming from as theres regularly vans that Park across it as the guy next to him seems to steal stuff from his work and they all Park close and transfer it into their vans.
I was listening like a hawk, was quite funny tbh proper awkward argument between neighbours.

i get on well with all my neighbours where my mum and dad live as it was a freshly built close everyone moved in at the same time so everyone knows everyone and we all get on and usually go on the piss aswell in the local village ro have bbqs round each others house regularly in the summer
i am known as "the young lad whos playing with cars" so everyone kind of expects it, but then again i only worked on my cars at the weekends on the drive
nieghbours never bother me when i did work or had to rev an engine to investigate something but i do my best to keep it quiet when i get back late, my mum always said in both the scooby and in my old B she could hear me coming miles away lol
i dont mind lending out my pressure washer or the odd tool/jack to the neighbours if they need it and they all bring it back the same day without my prompting them.
Saying it back to myself, think my mum and dad have spot on neighbours
