Has anyone signed up to a new TV deal recently?

I'd be keen to find out what everyone is paying as my one is quite expensive at the moment - about £75 a month.

I'm with Virgin and have a phoneline, TV XL ( including BT sport) with a decent broadband service and two boxes. I like them because the service is decent, Internet good, Boxes are alright and you don't pay extra for HD. I'm also holding out to see if they will do a fixed sky sports season ticket for the footy.

My other choice is to look into sky or negotiate some discount with Virgin.

Just popped to town. Sky have offered a like for like package which is £20 less straight away. Said to bolt on the sports when the season starts as they will offer Discounts on the package then?

Negatives are no BT Sport and the broadband is sky
Broadband unlimited? They offered fibre for £10 extra a month.

If you want a good deal with sky you HAVE to cancel and be prepared to be cut off. They always offer you something better when you cancel but the best deals come when they call you back during/after your 1 month cancelation period. If you log into your MySky account on the day after your cancelation completes, there should be a half price deal in there for you to activate.

What about a threat to cancel or even a sob story about redundancy or similar? I'm being absolutely ripped off by the sound of things in here.

I've recently renewed with Sky for a second year and got 50% off everything again.

SSE were also the cheapest for phone and broadband which is a fixed 2 year deal for £22 for fibre optic.

Why not buy a satellite dish, 1 of those Openbox V5S or the likes, and a subscription for £15 a year from the likes of Smart Servers. All of that is less than £100 then all you need is an Internet connection.

That sounds like effort and you don't get the sky+ function, which is the only way I get to watch decent TV.

Called Sky to discuss my extortionate monthly bill last night. After 10 minutes on the phone I had it £30 cheaper per month. Outrageous difference in bills person to person - sounds like a lottery as to what offer you're signed up to and when.

I have a deal through a mate who works for Sky, everything possible, including all movie channels and all sports, HD packs, line rental and Broadband for £52 a month. Although I switched to BT as Sky broadband is shit around here.

Signed my mum up to family bundle + broadband + free TV for £30 a month 12m contract

Then 24hrs later saw in PC world it was 16 quid for the same deal without TV.

Called up to cancel, they swapped it but still left me with the free TV
