hey me and four other mates were thinking of buying a cheapish project car to do up over the summer when things get boring! what you think would be a good one?

atm we are thinking an RST because you could tune the engine to shit

depends on your budget and what u wanna use it for, power wise id go for a uno turbo if you can find a good one, stick a roll cage in, bucket seats, bleed valve induction kit few other bist and hey presto, smart car and fking fast for not a lot of money really
wouldnt picjk any from that list imo but if i had to, would be the rs

i wouldnt mind buying a complete shitter because i wanna do loads of work to. i wanna save money wherever possible like smoothing doorhandles and boots myself, make a custom boot build etc

Get a mk1 golf and put a big VAG engine in eg, 2.9vr6, 1.8t or a mk3 2.0 16v engine.

1.8t has tuning potential but suffers from bad turbo lag, the 2.0 16v has same power and will deliver it alot better. But the daddies the 2.9vr6 engine 190bhp standard.

incorrect, i have the 1.8t and it hardly lags at all, just keeps pulling and pulling right through the gears, i admit there is some lag, but nowhere near bad enough for it to be a problem
