i got my self a pipercross induction kit and fitted it to my car which is a 1.4 16v. the car started runnin shit so i reset the e c u. and i wasnt much better. i then ran a small cold air feed to it. it was only small coz i have air con and u cant get on much bigger in. but again it still ran shit. so i took the induction kit off and fitted mi old air box and runs much better now. why does this happen? and if i got a pipercross viper kit would this still happen? and would a viper kit link up to a velo's torque tube if i got both?
cheers lads

its cos the car is getting too much hot air. What u need to do is box off the filter. stop hot air gettin in.

Induction kits = quality noise & shite running
Panel filters and modded airbox = performance

how does a panel filter give ya more performance. An induction kit works if fitted properly. It needs to be shielded from hot air and the fuel pressure upped to stop it leaning out the mixture.

because everyone that has gone the panel filter and drilled air box all say its a 100 x better than a induction kit
everyone knows that induction kits are poor on corsas because they suck in hot air from the engine

sorry m8 i av 2 disagree there i have had both on my 1.2 8v an although it may only be a small engine the induction kit definently performed much better than the air box

ive got a green cotten induction kit & it does run better from cold & lute warmthan standard induction bu u do get some lag wen engines hot, but wit a heat shield it should run with no lag

i got a 1.4 16v wiv a pipercross induction, and i have no probs at all.
i drive in all sorts on conditions ( urban, country blitzs, motorway...)
I've made me own heatsheild, doesn't look really pretty, but it helps a lil when driving in town.

did i not say that at the start of the post. Put a sheild round it to STOP hot air getting to the filter. LUCA2020, an induction kit works wonders on a car IF, installed properly. and if u have done ir properly, u WILL notice an increae in power. Not seat throwing power but ul notice the difference.

how can u not install it propley?
tbh tho if u go the induction kit route or filter/box route thiers very little power gain either way, so go for what ever u thinks best

not putting a heat sheild round a filter is not installing it properly.
there is a power gain. no much but for 80 quid ur not gonna get much but it helps the car breathe better. more cold, dense air in the better. A box is really restrictive. Those viper kits are good bt expensive. try the BMC ones. Ferarri endorse them and they are cheaper. Ive sold loads in the shop and had one on ma suzuki swift. On the rollers it showed a 7 bhp increase. From just a filter thats quality. so u canna say that it doesnt give u an increase in power

How do you mount the heat shield etc? Also, where's the best place to get some nice large cold air feed piping from?

At some of the replies on this thread.
An induction kit wont gain u as much power as a drilled airbox and aftermarket panel filter. Yes the throttle may seem more responive hence making it feel faster, but in actual road terms, the airbox is the better option. Give better more smoother power delivery, but u'll loose that 16v sound.
So as said, u want power, drill the box, u want noise, use an induction kit.
Simple.

took off my induction kit and replaced it with my origanal airbox, which i drilled, still ahs a paper filter in it and it runs much better than did with the induction kit. quicker than standard and with a cone filter. when i get a foam panel filter it should be even better.
