s20 gee: You could get a superchip, but only if your going to fit new cams as well otherwise the chip is a waste of time.

Waste of time ?????
Pissing money down drain ????
A 1.2 sxi can be had new for under £8 K
A 1.4 Sri is like 11 grand or sometimes nearer 10.
For a grand you can get MORE POWER than a 1.4 so its hardly pissing money down drain. You;d stillh vae change from a 1.4 SRI for some nice wheels and brake upgrade.
THe old story of the 1.2 16v being untunable is BULLSHIT
The Dbilas Manifold imported from Germany, I got took a week to come and I got it for £590. I got it set up with a Dastek Unichip and a K&N panel filter plus drilled airbox, total cost just over a grand.
YOU WANT SOME POWER FIGURES ???
Std power, albeit with drilled airbox was 60 at wheels.
(approx 80 at flywheel)
Power after the above fitted 78 bhp at wheels.
I didn't get a flywheel figure but based on the original calculation its about
105 flywheel plus...
No shit have graphs ....
The peformance is quicker than a mates VTR.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Not much noisier after the drilled airbox.
The sound is different though.
I'm expecting a few more horses after a full system is installed.
Plus I lightened the car a bit with reoval spare wheel, tool kit, rear headrests, parcel shelf, not loads of weight but it gives it an edge.
Here is the Dbilas link.
I thought the power figures for the manifold gains on the Opel engines were exagerated.
They are not.
http://www.dbilas-dynamic.de/English/dbilas.html
Basically my old car a Zetec S, with supposedly 103 bhp and more torque was never as quick.
The fact that the 1.2 is 'square' i.e samish bore and stroke makes it rev like a drill.
Beating a VTR is nothing to be proud of, but the car looks std, same peeshooter back box still and 1.2 badges. Love shutting down Golf TDi boys who sit on my tail.
Added : I think a Corsa C 1.2 has about 57 at the wheels std. (roughly 75 fly)

Also the thing where a 1.2 won't creep off from a junction in second has GONE. It pulls well at low speed in the gears.
When its gets to like 4000 rpm its like a freakin Honda V tec.
And now you can get wheelspin in 2nd and chirp the tyres into third in the dry.

Is it the sort of thing you can fit yourself?

I got manifold 2nd hand from Ebay,
www.ebay.de
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=242685083995&category=36681
The drilled airbox, well the way I did it gives more than 1 bhp, I'd say 4. I also removed the std air intake and used trunking to the front grille.
So i'd say
Std. 75
Airbox mods 4
K&N 2
Dbilas manifold 20
Dastek 6-7
Etc etc
I could be more, I should have pumped up my tyres to get a higher wheels figure.
As for accurate flywheel figures...whats the point ?
www.pumaracing.co.uk
This link shows that flywheel figures off chassis dynos are innacurate, yet the mags still do a dyno day and say look how accurate our dyno is this car which is std is showing exactly the manufacturers figures. Yet they test three std cars with the same peco back box and they all make different figures ! Go figure !

errrr 1 question, WHY BOTHER???
why not just buy a 1.6 16v or 2.0 16v engine for £500 or thereabouts and add another £500-800+ for fitting etc
yes a 1.2 16v engine is possible, but very pointless, by the time u declare mods like cams, chips, manifolds, etc to ur insurance, u'll be paying nrly as much as you would be on a 1.6 16v engine.

do it for kicks
dont listen to all that 'why bother' 'it's a waste of time' malarky.
if that was the case why bother with a corsa at all.. I saw a lambo countach on autotrader last week for 14k go get that.
