not sure why folk are saying crap

We have an STi IV (98) and its quite nice.

The earlier cars upto 97 i think (STi III inc) was the more basic bland plastic micra/blubird type interior. That is a long time ago now. Move on, subaru has.

japanese fuel is 102 octane i think, There have been a lot of classic JDM STi`s that have suffered detonation and holed a piston. This is due to people running them on 95 octane or even super unleaded, not having them remapped or using octane booster and or fitting silly boost controllers.

Its not due to subaru making a crap engine.

Have seen storys posted on SN where dealers have imported cars in or bought from auction filled them up with supermarket standard unleaded and killed them. If you dont educate yourself on how to look after these cars then you are asking for trouble.

VXR is one of those cars that doesn't photograph well inside. Not seen 1 attractive 'picture' yet, but when you sit in the car, it all works very well together.

SEats are fannytastic, great support, 2 hands on stearing wheel type focus.

Agreed though, i don't like the silver plastic round the stereo. SERIOUSLY lowers the dash tone, otherwise, everythign else inside is of a good material.

Scoobies are all over the place as well. Don't see too many VXR's.

Can come in leather, but tbh, the part leather as standard is the better seat.

I love it when people start playing the "common card"

They're common for a reason! Because they're fuckin ace!

From a exterior asthetic point of view the VXR wins hands down in my opinion.
Scooby looks a mess from any angle, the front looks stumpy and very tall and the arse just seems huge, big scoops and bigger spoilers on a Corsa look gay to fuck yet on another car they are acceptable? Yes I appriciate that they (well possibly only the scoop) serves a purpose but they look fucking daft and I know I'd be embarrased to drive what is essentially a 14 year olds wet dream!

It's be the VXR for me (well it'd be a Thurlby 888 infact), but it's not my money!

So is/was my olds mans old Benelli Tornado bike (till someone wrote it off), but you didn't see hundreds of them, maybe 50 in the country.................

Re-read my posts, i've not put the cars down at all, you lot are doing that, im just saying, for me, i don't really want something thats as commen as muck.. Hence why the other bike i want it quite rare, hence why D4 was different (but the same) to many corsas etc......

Stop only reading negative things. I see lots of Scoobies every single day (of which are quite old now, so going to be a lot more, astra is a new car, commen sense would know there isn't going to be as many about), and i see a VXR maybe once or twice per week.

I filter between well over 1000 cars per day into central london, each way, to work... So i see quite a few cars...

Also the same way I wouldn't want a rarri or anything like that if i had the cash, i'd go for something rarer.....

Whats wrong with that???

If you want to settle for the under dog to be different then be my guest.

I think there are more VXR's on the road than you think, just they're not noticable like scoobies. Just "another astra" imo.

Steve you retard read what I put, I acknowledged that the scoop is there for a reason and personally do you really believe that the spoiler is their as a stability item primarly and not a asthetic item?
Please! Pull the other one!
Subaru knew that by putting a fucking great scoop on (the latest model scoops are twice the size of the original phase ones - why? For asthetic "appeal" imo) and a even fucking greater great spoiler on the back it would make thier car iconic in the way that the original Escort Cosworth was with it's huge bonnet vents and boot spoilers - the spoiler is nothing but eye candy that appeals to the Fast and Furious market, can't see it making much difference at 70mph on a motorway, I know my Corsa manages to stay safely stable without a need for a gay ironing board on my boot - as do the majority of cars (How many Ferraris or Porsches have a spoiler that size?)
And why do they still use a top mounted FMIC? Thought that they'd of learnt that proper front mounted FMIC's are the better option, what's the first thing owners of Sunny GTiR's do? They remove the top mounted FMIC - asthetics Steve, asthetics to appeal to that market.
