No problem Tom.
In other news I changed the cabin filter as ran out of light when we serviced it and realised I had totally forgotten about it. Was grot, glovebox had half of sherwood Forrest behind it.
Old vs. new
Then when I had glovebox out found this multi plug that had nothing to connect to, just sat there... And a random coaxial cable?! Anybody shed any light?

Good to know thanks Shep, that's the main reason of fitting it, head it improves throttle response

I had a cable like that for a carphone roof antenna. But mine was a 90's car, not sure they do them like that now.

Mark, I have a CD changer and there is a cable with a very similar but smaller plug that goes to the back of it. No other holes...
Could be a carphone Jim, its not that new 2003....

Postman came again!
Here is my new (second hand) ECU. It's just a regular Astra ECU but has been remapped with EDS Ph1 software. So plug and play tuning Can easily return to standard if I desire and was cheap. Plus it's nice to have a spare ECU should mine die.
This will be installed with the Turbo and side mount.

Genuinely forgot to post a pic of this....
Picked up a second hand EDS Motorsport Side Mountend Intercooler (SMIC) this goes in the stock place but increased capacity without the need to muller the rad/fans and piss about with wiring and cutting my bumper up.
It's a bit tatty but pressure tested and working fine. Debating getting my wire wheel/sand paper out and cutting this back then painting again to get it looking mint.

Post and been again!
Bar the odd nut and gasket this is pretty much all in what needs to be done, so looking forward to it no longer smoking, driving it harder and having a lot more power.
GM whoring:
What's in the box?
LEH/VXR turbo! K04.
So this needs a fitting kit:
My boost hose is old and perished so upgraded to a VXR one. Has a solid centre section so should be stronger if I wish to upgrade power in future.
Hope to god I don't need to use this, worlds most expensive clamp:

Apparently you need some mounts to stop the SMIC fouling the rad and or bumper moves it back a few mm's
Obligatory turbo shot:

It is on permanently, you can get a switch and loom from the GSI which will enable you to switch it off. Or pull a fuse IIRC.

Your ecu picture reminded me that when I had my gsi there was a guy on Astra owners club selling copies of remaps for a fiver (think somebody had managed to put a Courtenay map on to a disk). Everybody was buying obd things off eBay for £20 and mapping their cars on their drives.
This thread makes me miss my gsi :-(

Mpps interface tool off ebay for a tenner, you get the software with it too. Guy called Rabbid does them for £150 (he's 1 of the names that pop up on the FB pages when it comes to mapping z20's) just copy your ecu file, send it to him with list of mods and he maps it to suit, sends it back over then you upload it back onto your ecu. Brother just got his golf turbo done for £30.

Rabbid is popular on the VXR Owners group - he is the guy that works/worked with Warren G.
He's only based outside of Basingstoke too, so quite local Jambo...

Interesting stuff thanks.
This ECU is from Thrbo Chris/CSaut and preloaded with EDS Phase 1. This was specifically the map I wanted as I used to have it in my GSI and know it's decent. It's a torque biased map and great for town driving and relatively low stress because you don't need to do any mods to get the power. Just fit to a standard engine. I have elected to get the SMIC and pre cat to aid throttle response and keep charge temps cool as can be. Plus at 9ltrs future tuning needs no upgrade.
As for next map, if I do tune it further I will be aiming for 300bhp and would feel safest getting it RR'd and set up properly.
