Picked up a 3M headlight restoration kit for my drivers side lens, which had gone cloudy and looked terrible. The passenger side was perfect so didn't anything doing to it.



Before. You can see the cloudy area at the top of the lens, which gave off an awful green look at night, when the headlights were on.





Started with 500 grit and worked my way up through the set, which was 800, 3000 and then rubbing compound which was the last step.

I was a little worried after the 500 grit as I didn't think i'd be able to get it clear from this:



But in the end there was no need to worry as it came out lovely. Looks brand new now.










I thoroughly recommend this kit. So easy to use if you own a cordless drill (2 batteries needed).

Picked up one of these tonight:





Bit of a mission to get it. A bad incident on the M25 possibly involving the death of a motorcyclist turned a 2 hour journey into a 6 hour one, but well worth it.

It's aluminium and incredibly light and also very strong. The guy said it cost him £300 to import from Canada and looking on the website, I believe him.

Are you leaving it shiny or painting it atall?

Simota Carbon fibre induction kit bought

I did say I wouldn't buy any more stuff but it's all stuff at a good price that i'll be able to get back when I sell it on, so i'm not losing anything.

Missus doesn't see it that way though most common question when I buy car bits is ''what about my ring?''

A ring? Or the induction kit?

Basically an air filter with a carbon fibre shield to stop heatsoak. Looks pretty cool and is supposed to make a great noise.

Will go fit it and get some pics.

Cool, didn't think kits were advised on our engines, tbh would be pointless on mine, wouldn't hear it lol
I had to put some foam back in the sound generator when I did the exhaust

Just went to fit it but it appears it doesn't want to go on

The guy I bought it off had it on a 2.5i. I can only guess the air intake pipe is bigger on the 3.0?

Here's a pic of it fitted to his:



The blue silicon hose won't fit over the pipe infront of the MAF sensor, so i'm guessing I need a bigger bit of piping or a reducer?

Strut brace is cool as fuck. Wish I had known about that company when I had the E36. Mine made a huge difference to steering feel and feedback. Crappy OMP thing fell apart though, this would have done the job nicely.

I had a Simota was always going to change that ghey silicon but to black so it didn't look so pony.

Sounds like you would need a reducing coupler, is there a different design for the 3.0? I.e does it use a bugger cone?

Just had the airbox off again. Luckily it only takes 20 seconds.

MAF is indeed larger Only 10mm mind.



Yep, definitely won't fit.



Found a 90-80mm reducer on ebay for £9.40 so not too bad, especially considering these filters retail at over £200!

Jambo, I thought the intake system was the same on the 6 cylinder engines (excluding ///M) but it appears not

The plan is to get a black reducer as I'm not into the coloured stuff either.

Yeah, hopefully that'll do the job, although i'm a little worried about the space so may need to cut the pipe down a little.

Really need to get the dash covers painted but keep putting it off. Not sure why, could get it done for cheapy cheap in work

The brushed aluminium bits. I removed the carbon fibre look vinyl a while ago and I still don't like them

Are you painting the interior bits black?
Bit of advice from a guy with gloss black interior parts: don't paint interior parts gloss black!
