Yeah thats it Ben, its the fiddly, niggly little things that annoy.
My heathshield was held on by a wing and a prayer  I kept using larger and larger washers to counteract the rusty hole (oo err) in the end it was practically dustbin lids holing it on

Looking good, I quite fancy one of these.
Those vents are so when you slam doors, windscreen (Roof I guess in your case) don't pop out.
Rotten heatshields are brilliant, the amount of 182's I've fixed with huge washers lol.

Ah that makes sense. The had flappy material on the insides which I guess is where the air is forced through?
Amazing to think such a small cheap part (£4) can cause such a big problem!
I absolutely love driving it and it's amazing just how many people don't realise how cheap they are.
They're not the smoothest drive. Very firm and raw compared to the newer e89, but very fun and involving.

Probably going to comment on how I like my sports car noisy like a child or something
Childish indeed but when last weekend I drove past an Asian wedding with them revving Lamborghini's etc. Everyone turned round to listen to mine when I went past. Think I won that 
Why have a sports car and be "reserved" fuck that. Got a 107 to drive for boring motoring

So, after particularly heavy rainfall I checked my boot the next day to notice it was soaking wet again 
Checked the boot vents, no water coming through those.
Checked the seal, it was tucked into a bit of plastic covering, so moved that.
Then I checked the gaskets behind the rear lights and they looked pretty rough and folded over in places. They were a bit worse for wear from when I sprayed and lacquered the lights.
Closed the boot, went around with the hosepipe for a bit and then checked for wet patches again and could see the inside of the gasket getting wet, so have ordered a couple.
I doubt that will sort the problem, but i'm gradually working my way through everything that could cause it.
Still have a leak in the cabin, but that's a bigger issue and much harder to trace.
Oh and to top it all off, one of the number plate bulbs I replaced has died already, less than 3 days after I put it in

Thankfully the gaskets and mirror glass with backing plate turned up today.
Had a bit of a horrid week driving around with no O/S wing mirror, making my work commute very hard work.

Old gaskets weren't that bad, but one had a split anyway. Next step is to wait and see if the leak is cured. Theres not much else that could cause it.
Also fitted the mirror glass and it now heats up. Result!
And finally changed my number plate lights (again). Working fine now.

Been worrying about finding the source of my interior leak (not the boot, the cabin) for a while now as last time I checked behind the seat, it was absolutely soaking wet.
Today, it's rained non stop and the car has been left outside whilst at work. Upon pulling onto my drive, I looked over and noticed water dripping down from the door, onto the door seal and then down the side into the carpet.
So yeah, found my leak, but not sure of the source.
Did a quick search and the likely culprit is the door membrane, which is insulation but provides a seal behind the door card. I haven't had this doorcard off (i had the drivers side off) so not sure why it's leaking.
Membranes are about 30 quid a side so will get both sides and see if that cures it.

My audi was leaking there, turned out to be the seal behind the wingmirror, try finding the highest wet patch.

Managed to get the door panel off. Only 4 bolts so an easy job. You can see the membrane here. It's foam and stuck down with butyl Tape?
Checked it was stuck down properly and it wasn't in some area's. Mainly the area where the leak is.
Got the missus to spray the hose around the edge of the door and window and sure enough, when she got to the wing mirror area, water started to come through. There was quite a lot tbh.
Hoping a new membrane and some of that butyl will sort it. Not sure I could get away with re-using the current membrane. It seems to be pretty weak and may tear.
