I've never been to Austin but if it's anything like Dallas they are the nicest folks you could meet. Not that I would trust them...

I left booking really late so you should see the state of the fucking hotel I'm at. If I don't get murdered, I'll have a good weekend.
It's one of those U shaped motels with an external balcony for access to the 2nd floor. Some lads sat on the railing outside my room, probably doing drugs.
Some good looking texmex down this road though, so will brave the outdoors in a few mins.

I used to really like Lewis, but now, something just not quite as humble about him. Arrogance has crept in and it isn't a particularly nice trait.

Where has that come from? He seems like a normal bloke living the good life on his Facebook page. Always doing stuff for charity and kids etc, but also enjoying himself which is what life is all about.
He made too many mistakes in qualifying, didn't have his mind in the right place imo.

Just a personal feeling. Seb, on the other hand, just a fantastic example in my opinion.

His car was shit though. When they set it up as he wanted, he was great.

Pretty epic day, Austin is a great venue.
Got to the circuit in the first shuttle to arrive, and still failed to get my Mercedes wristband to allow me on stage for a Lewis autograph later in the day 
Trialled out a few vantage points during FP3 and the support stuff, decided that the top of the hill at T1 would be best for quali and the race.
After the cars had finished, headed to the amphitheater where the autograph sessions were being held, just to get a few photos really. Ended up within 10feet of the stage just in time for Ricciardo to come out for an interview, then a few autographs for the wristband holders.
After the wristbanders were done, he through a few postcards into the crowd.
Hung around there for 30mins or so and Nico came out, was asked about double points and he said "at this stage of the season, great idea" - at least he's honest 
He hopped down into the crowd and signed a few hats in the front row.
Then Lewis came out  did the little interview then went to sign his wristbanders' stuff. Jenson and Kevin came out whilst Lewis was still signing - then Lewis jumped down into the crowd and started signing shit. I was probably a row too far back so just took as many photos as I could then backed off after he passed my area. He must have been signing for 40mins or more, long after the McLaren boys buggered off and he slowly made his way from right to left at the front of the crowd.
I noticed the crowd was thinning a bit on the extreme left so I ducked in and sure enough Lewis got there and took my hat  I fucking creamed my pants, he handed the hat back signed and I said "Cheers for that mate", he looked me in the eye and said "no worries fella, enjoy".
 Best day ever.
Oh, Ted Kravitz and Pete came on stage too during the notebook. If I didn't make it onto any notebook footage I'll be amazed. Did anyone have it taped?
Final note of the day, went for (another) Mexican and (literally) ran into Matt Le Blanc outside the restaurant
Got loads of pics, will upload and sort tomorrow or monday.

I was stood maybe 15feet to their left. A Mercedes PR guy later took that head, and carried it on stage for Lewis to sign. He did the same with a massive German flag that the three Nico fans had.

Just how evevated is the run to t1, Kyle? Certainly looks like a rather big hill in your pics, but you never get the full effect on TV or images.

Yes it's very steep, can see the whole start grid from here.
A few of the ferrari challenge cars lost it as they go light over the crest, one of my photos shows one facing the wrong way for that reason!
