at the above comments but looks quality ed.. really like watching this coming together how u feeling about it all being smoothed though? bumps .etc and it cracking,... think it'll be ok?

Chrome paint, what the hell is that?

The bumper isn't smoothed in, it's just a technique I use to get stuff to fit nicely. I have sanded down the bumper to get the paint off and masked off the wing and inner wing then slapped on a load of filler. I will then sand it off smooth and the bumper should then fit

have u never seen chrome paint?

its amazing stuff, i wanted to do sum bits in it but its starts at £150 a litre for the basic stuff!

its sprayed over a cured black bascoat and it looks amazing but its hard to flat it with out scratching it!

yeah but they are sprayed in booths in the us and they spend stupid amount of money so they rarley have to flat the paint, average booth over there is about £40k and there bloody good over here its about £15k - £20k!

So that would mean that SQ Plus's new spray booth is up there with the yanks!

Finished the front bumper off now, but I put it in the boot and I'm too tired to take it out for pics... Here it is though



Filled in the holes made for the old rails.



Then I had a bit of spare time so I got a bit over zelous........





Who'd of known there were so many parts to a car



Anyway. I need to go over the whole car with 40 grit now to get the paint off, while'st going over the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure everyhing is in order, then it'll be in paint by the beginning of next month...

Gave it a go with rattle cans when I did the conversion. It just wasn't up to spec though. Doing everyhting properly this time...

So how long has that taken you to do then ed? as in all of the car being fixed up and done to how you want it?

I realised why it wouldn't start too. I had started unplugging the loom a while ago but forgot about doing it. Errrr... That could be the reason anyway

About 40-50 hours of labour... I can do things a lot quicker now and ge stuff right first time, where as when I started it would take me longer to do stuff.

the one i use on a regular basis was over £45k when new, that was only 4-5 years ago

Using a DA and a sanding block. Have to sand the custom (filler) stuff by hand otherwise it will fuck the hard work up...

i would suggest that you dont go over the car with 40 as if there is any imperfection you will just make them bigger or if there is any more filler on the car then you could just make that worse!

just go over the car with 180 and a interface pad if you have one and it will all be keyed up good and take out the small imperfections but the primer will get most of the small stuff out any way!

40 grit is far too rough, like c4wlk says 180 or 240 is the way to go
