Disaster struck today, even though i coverred the seat in the back in some thick blankets, this happened:

FML.
So on we get with the tasks:
Started by fitting the arm rest, a lot more peices than you would imagine. Had to cut some of the carpet out too:

Ta Daaa!

Then on to the ball ache seat:

Wired up.
seat removed

Feed the wires from the battery/fuse holder

Problem #1

Problem #2

This required much swearing and enlarging. It still isn't sitting right but this could be due to the frame itself, will need to come back out at some point. But all works 100% and is SOOOO much comfier. Holds you in better round the corners everything.

Some outside pics:

Tensioners fitted as well, now car is silent as a brand new M3. Its super refined and the cabin whisper quiet.
Thanks for looking

Special thanks to Shrek (Aka Jamie) for his expertise. And of course, Mr Lemass himself for use of his adequate facilities (apart from the frozon bog )

They look great, at least they're finally in.
Does your roof work by the way? I see that it isnt closed properly and my old convertible used to sit like that because i had to fold it manually.

It needs new tension straps. I am able to assist the roof folding 100% flat by pushing the mid section but sometimes it does it on its own.
Need a new rear window so when I get that done ill replace the straps as they have to remove headlining to do it. Be about £400 I think

I was going to say that it will just be the tension straps When i got a new rear window for mine only a few places were advertised, i went to a random guy in Loughborough and he seemed very decent and id recommend him, cant quite remember how much he charged but think it was just over £100 to do it.

Did you replace the straps too? I need the dog ears as well Also the pins at the front holding the trim tight, See here:

Anyway. Heres another update:
Well I gave it a quick soap and hoover, still didn't get all the shit from my mates bodyshop out the carpet. Stuff is welded on there. Oh well.
Purchased these a few weeks ago from the dealer. Reassuringly expensive!
They are the same as I was expecting, as when I was younger our family had 4 E36's over the years. Seems they have changed the design slightly by adding a small BMW logo!
Apologies for blurry pics, my battery died on the camera so I just used my Blackberry Torch.
Before:

Here we go:

Here's a lose up:

They need a deep clean. Probably a bolster dye on the passenger side?! If I bother, keep reminding myself this is a budget M3!9

Looks really nice after a good clean
And no i didnt get the straps fixed, i knew i wasnt keeping the car long so never got round to it. At the time though i found a very useful youtube video of a guy telling you how to fix the roof, i found the link off e36coupe.

Tiny update.
Ordered one of these which turned up today

Its a Z3 chrome handbrake button. Being my interior is black, its very drab and dull inside, so wanted to get the chromeline pack accessories which where an option from bmw. Handles and ashtry buttons. I don't think this was ever offered, but i like it. Its all in the detail
Quick fitting pics crappy quality due to fading light taken on my iPhone:
Old button:

Old one off

All fitted:

And yes im aware you can barely even see it as the lights so bad lol.
