Best to drive one and see what you think, 4wd launches in the wet from the lights are fun
I never once said in this thread the hadlex is a bad system I just do not think the TT needs it - it serves a purpose but people started defending their choice over snow arguments
Again I will say this
the TT is a good car with or without the Haldex. Having owned 1 for 3 years I would go for the 180BHP FWD version but they are rare. If not get the 225 BHP
However if like drivers cars then the TT is not for you. Its doesn't encourage you to drive it IMO. The s3 feels like a different car to the TT even though it runs the same platform and running gear

i think thats a good fair and decent review from Whitter45.
Not sure i'd go 4wd given the option, unless planning some massive power increase and liked 1/4 mile times

you could argue that good suspension, geometry, tyres etc would have a big impact

Wish my car had Haldex
I was tempted to swap it for an S3, but don't want a VAG any more.

That and let it rain and then it will happily go sideways (Disclaimer to Big Eck c/o the facts department. It will drive fine in the rain unless you hoon it, this does not mean its "undriveble as your mates dog who's sister twice removed had one for a test drive once said" If you attempted the same in a FWD car it would understeer into a hedge)
But you are right of course, it simply boils down to your sentance. If YOU LIKE the car, then buy it. Simples. Who cares what some bloke who drives a stripped out Puma and Swift think.
Does it really get to you that much that I just don't agree with your comments about the amazing M3???
I agree you probably know a lot better than I do having owned them but I just don't think they deserve all the hype.

would this be a better buy than a tt 225?
bmw z4 2.5
http://pistonheads.com/sales/3289624.htm
certanly seems better value, being newer, has a more masculine look to it, if a little slower and no turbo.

the 3.0 is 200 a year more on insurance. depends whether a 3.0 costs 200 less than a decent 2.5 or whether its worth the extra.
EDIT: sorry, 160 more (£1227)

the heat gets rid of the creases in the leather.
i'm not sure what car to get, hence this thread. very confused atm, far too much choice in my budget. i want something that has decent performance, gets 30mpg sitting at 70mph on a dual carriageway, has something different about it and isn't just a bmw 318i.
