checked timing and it was all ok , just belt had come loose,

checked valve clearances to make sure valves wernt bent and they are all fine , did a compression test and got 75,112,96,120, little low on cylinder 1 but i did check them last week and cylinder 1 was low and it still drove great ,did a leak down test on it but the tested broke, (piece of crap only the second time ive used it )

started it up again after this and there is a realy bad vibration going through out that car , i though it was the rear mount gone so i put a transmision jack under it and took it of , stuck mark in it and got him to start it but the vibration was still there , mate came round with a fresh set of eyes and spotted this

yep turbo has gone, loads of movement in it and the blades have been scraping on the side, so need to take that of tomorow, im hoping that this is whats causing the vibrations , only other think is what to do about the compression results as if i take the head of to inspect it it needs a new head gasket and at £250ish plus vat its not a job i want to do if not needed to as it did drive fine a few days ago ,

You sure your rings are ok, just going from that low compression test and the fact your dipstick fired out etc

Did you re-pipe the water feed and return back up to the turbo? Think they're about 500-600 quid for a replacement cartridge for them depends if it's scored the housing a lot I guess though.

I apreciate what you say about the gasket but that is a very low compression value. I'd be looking into that and the cause of it.
Hope Cody sorted you out over the turbo too. Andy can either recon or replace the core but you may also need a new housing

Gutted for you mate. Hope you get it sorted.

i didnt end up ringing him mate as im just getting a new one now and i know a few poeple who can get them at a good price , i know what your saying about the low value but tbh im not to worried about it as i did a compression tast a few weeks back and its all the same sort of numbers and its been driving fine , the engine will be getting taken apart in about september time for over the winter so i will defo be looking into it then

Although the scrapes are small from the turbo, take your intercooler off and give it a clean out. Best to make sure there aint any swarf in there.

Probably could if you let it drain for a few days, would be better off using something like petrol or thinners though?
