question about the gearbox:

my car is electronally driven, i heard there was 2 types of gearboxes and should be looking for a 3 pin connector to connect mine up correctly. i havent found that, what i did find is this:

i take it this means this is a older cable driven box and therefore no good?

NO! That won't work.

Options are fit a transducer, You will have to find the right one though. Take the diff out of both boxes and swap the ring and then the sensor, or just use your other box.

That pic looks like it says F13 anyway? Same as what should be fitted to your 1.4. At least you know your box is good

finally got the engine onto the stand and me and my dad started working on it today.

heres the hole in the sump was talking about.

all looks good so far , but noticed some marks on the cams. looks like scroring in places, like you see on speed bumps some times. ive tried to get a pic as best as possible.

its hard to see , but you can just see the places where it looks like its been hitting something. its not deep , but was just wondering if this is ok or they need replacing?

Generally I say if you can feel the marks with your fingernail its not ideal.

If you cant, its just normal and should be fine.

i think you can slightly feel it, do you think they are worth replacing? its on the brown bar part of the cam not the actual lifter part. worth replacing or not?

got some more work done over the last couple of days. took the throttle body off and cleaned it all up, took the inlet and fuel rails off.

also made a start with cleaning up the thermostat housing.

plans are:

- valve stem seals
- check everything is ok inside
- rebuild
-powerbox

Martin.

whats the planned engine mods with this then dude? if your fitting a power box you got the easy bit done already, the black plastic pipe that goes round the back of the engine is a pure bitch to get out when the engines in
looks smart
