I just don't understand all this, I really don't... Sure Bale is a fine footballer, no denying that whatsoever, but he's nowhere near a Ronaldo, not even on the same planet as Ronaldo. 85 million pounds? Da fuq were they thinking. And it's not like Bale has real worldwide superstar status, either.
Also, copyrighting this heart celebration thing.... I always thought it was Alex Pato that started it, not Bale

Just not sure where to start with all this  Ronaldo was worth it, because of what he had done, he'd proved he was the best. RM by and large knew Ronaldo was guaranteed to do what he did at United, at RM, and given the way he looks, the sponsors, and his super star status, the shirt sales and other endorsements etc, RM were always going to get their moneys worth. Agreed that he isn't half the player Ronaldo became. Ronaldo went away after the WC and came back with some unbelievable skills. Bale has not shown any of this.

Maybe that's the case, but it doesn't matter so much, young talent etc
Obviously no one knew Bale would be the player he is (still not on the same planet as Ronaldo) - I still remember in his younger days not knowing if this kid was a left back or a left wing back, or just a left winger. Then he kind of turned in to a play maker/second striker/striker... Still not sure his best position tbh. Just one where he can get the space to get up to full speed.

Kind of happened with Ronaldo with us. Was supposed to be Beckham's successor yet ended up being a second striker, and in some games played ahead of Rooney.

Sorry I meant even Kaka was.... And by that I mean his on the pitch failings at RM. Because that transfer didn't work out at all, but he's still a super star. Would of sold a fair few amount of shirts, especially initially. Obviously that wouldn't continue like it would have with Ronaldo, due to Kaka being past it, prety much.
