Update! I took it for its MOT this afternoon and it passed with no advisories Chuffed!

With that out the way I thought I better crack on with the engine paintwork! So within about an hour of its mot it looked like this -

Removed all the radiator etc too ready for the TX autosport alloy rad

The main area I'm doing is the slam panel but im also respraying the D/S chassis leg as well. Its been bugging me for a while as rust was starting in places and it had also got scratched a bit when I did my head rebuild. So this is how it started

The first thing I did was to wire wheel the rusty areas to get them back to bare metal

Then I prepped the rest of the panel

]

Engine bays gonna need one hell of a clean after all this

The bare metal de rusted bits were then treated with Bilt Hamber Deox gel

Wrapped in cling film to stop it drying out overnight

Primer tomorrow!

Also popped down the Arrt to see how my doors were coming along as I hadnt heard anything. They havent been started yet I have been promised that they will be ready to collect saturday though

Thanks everyone

Started work nice and early this morning because I had to go into work in the afternoon. The first thing I did was to see how the Deox gel had got on after being left overnight

Did its job nicely! Gave the panel a good clean with some soapy water to remove the gel and was left with this

Nice clean bare metal! So I brought the car into the garage and got it masked up

After a good clean with some wax and grease remover I gave it 3 coats on zinc primer on the bare metal patches, then 3 coats of high build primer followed by a guide coat for when I flatten it back

The plan for tomorrow is to get the chassis leg primed and get the slam panel flattened back and painted!

The bodyshop rang me today as well to say my doors are ready to be collected Will be picking them up on friday

More updates tomorrow

Thanks lads

Paul you really cant go wrong with Bilt Hambers rust remover products mate. They are awesome! I've been using their Deox-C rust remover bath as well to do some nuts and bolts while its apart and they have come up like brand new!

Definitely sound like they're worth an investment. Any particular place to get them? I've probably missed it somewhere
